I have multiple copies of one email which have appeared in the main folder, now if I try to delete any files in that folder I get the message. (A serious error has occurred while Pegasus Mail was compressing this folder, and data may have been lost. You should exit from Pegasus Mail as quickly as possible and use an undelete utility to recover the files main.PMI and/or main.PMM.)  When I reopen the folder it is empty. If I then close the folder the error message  (Data error encountered in folder. Folder, Main Folder. File, Main.PMM,   **Error opening folder index file.)  Appears.  The folder will successfully reindex, but has exactly the same problems as before.  I dragged and dropped one copy of the duplicated email into another folder, and now this folder has the same problems. The main.PMI file is missing.

It might be necessary to delete and recreate the folder (after moving all its messages elsewhere, of course). Just remember to adjust filtering rules and identities attached to the folder after doing so.

Yes, I think that the 'offending emails' are a red herring I created a new folder and dragged a copy to it, and was able to delete it from the new folder. So that may be the answer, save the emails I want to keep in new folders and then get rid of the faulty ones.  The problem now is that the faulty folders will not delete from within the the folders window, I will try and delete them from within windows explorer and hope that this does not create further problems

Problem solved!  When I tred to delete the appropriate PMM file in Windows Explorer it gave a file in use by other program message. I was able to delete the faulty folders within Pegasus after rebooting in safe mode. Everything is now working as it should.  Thank You!
