Uninstall Mercury

I found my problem. It turns out that 'someone' changed my firewall settings on me (after 'someone' disabled the firewall I was soon to replace, anyway) and there was something that Mercury didn't like about Windows 7 firewall 'public' settings, for which. I apologize, I have investigated no further than to turn that off (for now anyway).

I may be following your recommendations as through it all I'm now getting 'core' errors on my admin mail file. But first I gotta get to why 'someone' now keeps turning that firewall setting back on on me (grrrrrrrrrrr). Thank you, Rolf!

I am suddenly having a seriously awful problem with Mercury/32 4.72 which has been working fine for very long. I'd start describing this bizarre problem, but first I would carefully uninstall it to reinstall it. I cannot find uninstall! Not in start menu, not in control panel programs (searched it on 'mail' and 'merc'). A forum/help search for 'uninstall' didn't find anything. I can remove the service using sc command and reinstall that (but it doesn't help). But all I can do is to try to re-install over the existing Mercury (because I can not the uninstall) and that is not solving this bizarre problem (Mercury keeps shutting down after starting).

WHERE is the uninstall, please?

If Mercury shuts down right after starting there are a few things to check:

- Is MERCURY.INI damaged?  If so replace it with the automatically created backup in MERCURY.BAK.

- Is there some odd file in the queue directory? Move everything out of there before restarting.

- Delete everything in the Scratch directory.

It's not likely that program files have been damaged unless there is a disk problem. You can make a new install (update) on top of the existing one to replace them.

To uninstall the program just delete the Mercury folder. That will take care of everything except the service registration (which you already know how to handle). But settings will be lost of course.
