Garbage content - incoming

There's also a settting that alows me to turn off the certification but leave the scan, which I have done (for now). I don't know how Pegasus processes the headers, or whether there's an opportunity to provide for things like this. At least the problem is identified, and options are pretty easy.

After using pegasus for many years with no problems, I've upgraded to 4.52. We are receiving messages that are total garbage, primarily from one customer - but not all the time. Going thru the source, it seems that the problem messages use UTF-8 encoding. Messages that use other character sets are no problem so far. So, I changed my prog to use UTF-8, at least outgoing (couldn't find any other settings to change) and messages from one of my contacts started coming through properly. I just got another one, from someone else using UTF-8, total garbage again. They are readable if I log into my mail server (ISP webmail access) so the problem seems to be at this end. I've run out of ideas. I even got one message that was half readable, half garbage.

help???

Please send me an example message with this problem. To do this please :

1. In Pegasus Mail Copy a bad message back to the NewMail folder

2. Open a new message and address it to me at irelam@telus.net

3. in Pegasus Mail go to your NewMail directory and Drag the bad message onto the body your email message to me, answer the question about handling  the file, as an attachment.

4. Click send. Thank you

. Doing it this way will prevent loss of information

Received the message. I checked it out and can confirm the "garbage". The reason is that you appear to be using AVG and have email checking enabled. The headers are broken by AVG trying to rebuild them. You need to disable realtime email checking in AVG. There is a AVG setup dialog where you can un-check Email checking.
