how to install pegasus 4.52 ON NETWORK?

In Pegasus Mail go to Help menu, commandline options which includes

Run control options
-A (no parameter)
Forces Pegasus Mail to run in standalone mode, ignoring any NetWare connection.
-ROAM  This option tells Pegasus Mail that it should ignore the configured drive letter when locating user mailboxes and mail files, and should instead use the drive letter of the drive from which WINPM-32.EXE was run. If Pegasus Mail and your mailbox directories are located on the same physical drive, you should always use this option. -ROAM greatly simplifies running the program on Peer-to-Peer and non-NetWare networks, because it allows the same copy of the program tobe run no matter what drive letter mappings exist on the particular workstation where it runs. This switch also allows you to install a complete, working copy of Pegasus Mail, complete with mailboxes, onto a memory stick, and to use that memory stick in any computer where it is subsequently plugged. You must not use this switch if Pegasus Mail and your mailbox directories cannot be accessed using the same drive letter. This switch is ignored and has no effect in either Novell NetWare operating mode.

and much more information.

Hello Vgobbi,

Here's the basic network setup process. Server here means one of the
systems if they do not have a server or extra computer laying around.

1.  Install WinPmail in the multiuser mode on the "server". Use c:\pmail for the program; c:\pmail\mail for the mail directories.
2.  Run PCONFIG.exe and change the HOME and NEW mail directory specification to the \\server\vol\pmail\mail\~8 format.
3.  Go to the remote workstations and install a shortcut to the common program.

Ok, now you have the basic mail system setup. You can send mail to each other using Pegasus Mail.

It works fine for me with Windows XP and below - which Windows version are you running?

i run version 4.52 in windows xp environment.

In effect there is a wssetup.txt or similar and in this file there are link E:/PMAIL/MAIL etc.etc  (E:/ because i install PMAIL in a Documents PARTITION because i don't trust windows envirenment and periodically is necessary to reinstall sistem). WSSETUP.EXE don't take note of changement in pconfig and fails.

This is my opinion.

WSsetup.dat is a file created when you installed Pegasus Mail and will contain the location you put in on installation.  Running WSsetup will generate a shortcut using base directory in that file.
WSSETUP.EXE don't take note of changement in pconfig and fails.
Does it crash or just not give you the results you expect?  I wouldn't expect it to be aware of any changes made after installation, but it may be possible to incorporate them into WSsetup.dat.

it not give me the results expect? WSSETUP.exe is reccommended to run by the installation wizard in any "remote" client machine on the LAN (not in the server machine where the program is installed). But if wssetup.dat take note only of server local installation folder and it doesn't take note of \\server\etc. etc. format it simply doesn't work fine. And in my LAN it fails. I'm reached the result only with a manual created link in client machine to the program reached by network resources in Win XP (and only if i put in the link option -A)

Usually, you simply need to create a shortcut to the winpm-32.exe file on each user's desktop.

This is how I use it. However, you must also make sure that you use UNC paths in the pmail configuration:

\\servername\sharename\winpm-32.exe

If you use a local path on the 'server' where pmail is installed (e.g. E:\path), your links will fail.

Plus, don't forget that XP will only allow a limited number of connections.

ok, many thanks.

I did that (olnly a manual link), but i would to signal to community wssetup in this case (installation in a local shared folder in server machine) don't work.

What difference between winpm-32.exe, winpm-32.exe -A and winpm-32.exe -roam -A?
