Opening Junk Mail Folder crashes Pegasus

I couldn't open any single message in the folder. The second that I tried to even select one for deletion it crashed the program.  I could see  no other way than to just delete the entire folder, which is no big deal to me.  I will get with you again in the future if I experience this problem again but I have for now suspended the email address that was getting the most spam, hoping it will bounce back errors to those sending and appear to be an invalid address.

I have used Pegasus for many many years, it's a great piece of work.  Thanks.

I did a search on this before posting but the only thread I found pertaining to this exact issue had no solution posted but rather a "I'll email you directly" to the person with this issue which doesn't help much.

Somehow a filtered mail message which was automatically put in the 'Junk Mail' folder is causing Pmail to crash.  Each time I try and open the 'Junk Mail' folder results in Pmail shutting down.  I have removed all 0kb files from my Pmail/mail folder but no go, I still can't access the folder to delete the messages in there.  What do I do now?  I'm using Ver 4.51 with Win XP

Turn off preview mode via toolbar button (fifth button from the left in the preview window), double-click the folder in the folder tree and do whatever you want with the messages (except for opening them). If you need to check the contents right-click the folder, select Folder information, go to the location shown there (if truncated go to Help => About Pegasus Mail => Info and pick Home mailbox location) and open the (PMM) file indicated with a plain text editor such as NotePad: If you need to keep any of the messages (or multiple ones) please return here and ask for details (I'm just to lazy to write it all down now). The culprit might be a message containing so-called (encoded) control characters in its subject line. This issue is fixed in the interim version to be released very soon.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I turned off preview mode which allowed me to see the contents of the folder but trying to select them all or delete them caused a crash.  I therefore just had to completely remove the "junk or suspicious mail" folder to get rid of the offending message and make a new one.

Can you tell whether selecting (a) certain message(s) caused the crash or didn't it matter? It's usually helpful for us to analyse such messages in more detail for trying to implement a permanent fix (if my previous assumption is wrong), so next time you encouter something similar please forward a zipped version of the PMM file to us (address on request, I should have said so before, of course, sorry; this was, BTW, what happened when asking the previous poster of such an issue to contact my personally).
