For fixing crashes caused by using to IERenderer (especially with IE 9, but other issues might be fixed as well) please get the recent update. If not: You didn't answer me second reply so there's not much that can be done unless you try to.

I'm almost done setting up the program for 10 user in a workgroup network. Some machines use xp and some 7. In one machine, the program will always crash and close immediatly. This machine is a XP machine..........what do you think is the reason?

Is this a clean (new) install or an upgrade? Version 4.61 or an older one?

4.61 new install.
The only way I was able to overcome this is to reinstall windows! This is happening in many computers. It is tedious to install windows just because of this !!!! What should I do?
I had strart problem with Pegasus mail Version 4.61 too. When I moved the files: IERenderer.fff and if there IERenderer.fde out of Pmai Programdirectory everything works fine. You can try this if you want just for test.

Reinstall Windows because of crashes in a single application? That should never be necessary unless Windows doesn't work anymore. Wouldn't downgrading Pegasus Mail have worked (v4.52 is still available on the download page)?
How did you install v4.61? Please note that circumventing the installer by just copying files is very likely to cause trouble as this apprach doesn't create proper directories and files required for running properly. You should at least install a template version on a single machine using the installer before copying it over to other machines.
If you still get crashes it would be helpful to create crash dumps using the MiniDump extension, its ReadMe files explains the details, you'll probably need to use its "stand-alone" mode (called Pegasus Mail Debugger in MiniDump's Start menu group) and pick up the dump file manually from the local TEMP directory for sending it to beta-reports[at]pmail.gen.nz.

I had similar problem, the pmail 4.61 crashed on opening of some mails in New mail folder. It was update from 4.52.
I have found, that you defaultly changed bearhtml to IErenderer, and this caused the pmail crash - only on some mails. But I could on the same problematic mails do Reply instead of Open and I could read the message and reply too.
The biggest problem of IE is wrong memory resources handling, so it can happen, that IE is not able to even show Menu buttons in New window (after Ctrl+N) or render page correctly.
I have now IE9, which is a bit better, but the similar problem persists - you can have open several webpages with plenty of objects - like eshops, google photo search, maps, etc. often do - and the windows resources are deplented. (Have Windows 7 x64 Enterprise, En, but it is the same on all kinds of Windows. 4GB RAM - usually see about 78% used in Task Manager). The problem is usually solved by closing or killing of IE or when some other application try to obtain resources without check if they are availalble, including pmail, the application start causing malfuncionality too and then the restart is best solution.
So Pmail have to always check number of free resources and memory, both during start (opening of mail folders with lots of items) and during calling of external programs, because Windows don't do that correctly !
And I don't understand, why there is no option in Tools/Options/Incomming mail or User interface to switch between IErenderer and BearHtml and disabling both - Man, it is unprofessional to the normal users, because these extensions causes 90% of pmail crashes - as I see from from this forum. And when calling of them causes some error, user should see that the error was caused by ... dll calling instead of traditional Windows message about the application crash.
Rename of IE9renderer.fff and IE9renderer.dll helped me to stop the crashing.
Thank you for keeping improvements, good luck.
Ps.: Search box in Help will be great and 750 messages in New mail folder limit removing will be great too - at least some notification about it and Ctrl+W for the first time when it is reached. Thank you
I didn't find these .dll files in some machines but found it in others. The machine in which the program was crashing didn't have have such files.
