Can't get Pegasus to work after reinstall

Thank you Oh Great and Mighty Jerry. It took some hunting to find where to copy the backedup files to the new install file locations, but it worked. As soon as I finished the copying and removed the Read Only settings, Pegasus opened up like normal. I did lost a couple hundred e-mails that were in the process of downloading when my system crashed, but they were probably all spam.

Thanks again for your help.

 Have Fun,

Jeff

My computer crashed while Pegasus 4.52 was opening today and many Pegasus files were corrupted and Pegasus wouldn't open. I uninstalled and reinstalled Pegasus, copied my backup to the new Pegasus folder and removed the Read Only setting from all files. This is what I've always done in the past with no problem. This time when I open Pegasus it's like a brand new, and empty, version. None of my address books, email folders or setting from the backup are showing. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Jeff

It sounds as if your old install and the new install are not to the exact same drive and location. Is your new install, the default, to c:\pmail location? Where was winpm-32.exe in your old backup and old location and where is it now in the new location?

Thanks,

Jeff

All the address books, except system wide ones, and  all the settings and all messages folders and new mail *.cnm files would normally have been located in c:\pmail\mail\<username> or c:\pmail\mail\username location and when you restore them that is where they should be placed in the new install and make sure all read only system  attributes are removed from backup files after placement.

If you need more information or exact extensions of address book  pairs and messages folder  pairs come back and ask again. Basic settings would have been in pmail.ini file. Basic user setup would have been in \mail\ and user data one subdir below.

It is not odd that different folders now. If old loaction files and .ini are found the installer uses those paths but when a new clean install or the old are not found then the new default location is c:\pmail\programs for the exe and files and c:\pmai\mail\admin for the default user home and new mail location.
