Configuring Pegasus Mail for GMail

Hi

I don't know if this is relevant to you or not but...

We had a similar issue and eventually found out that it was a VPN connection causing the problem

Close the VPN connection and the problem goes away,  open the VPN connection and the problem comes back. [:O]

Check and see if you are using other programs that are accessing the network there may be a clash there.

I am trying to configure Pegasus Mail for use with my GMail Account but am having issues setting up the Secure Connection Settins as detailed in in this GMail Help Article: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13287

Can someone provide me with some assistance in setting up PMail so I can use my GMail Account with it. I am using PMail 4.6 on WinXP Professional Service Pack 3.

Thank you.

Have you been able to get anything to work, i.e. send or receive mail?

If you haven't already done so you will need to set up Gmail to work with either pop3 or imap by enabling the selected option in the settings area using your web browser.

Should look something like this:

Tools - Internet Options - Sending - Edit

General - SMTP server :smtp.gmail.com  Port 465

Security - Direct SSL

Login to SMTP server with full email address as username and your normal password.

Make sure the option to send mail immediately is checked under Sending(SMTP) and then look for queued mail - File - Send all queued mail.

If Pmail is making contact with the server what is the response?

Today I was trying the same thing.

Gmail is setup for pop/smtp for an e-mail client.

I configures Pmail as instructed in the link provided by the OP.

I can't receive, nor sent mail.

In the pmail log is:

<style type="text/css">p { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; }</style>

--- Tue, 22 Mar 2011 13:52:26 ---

Connect to 'pop.gmail.com' port 995,

timeout 300.

13:52:26.861 [*] Connection established

to 209.85.143.109

13:52:26.017 22: Error -14 activating

SSL session (locus 6014, type 4, code 0, '')

13:52:26.018 --- Connection closed

normally at Tue, 22 Mar 2011 13:52:26. ---\0A\0A

for retrieving mail and:

<style type="text/css">p { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; }</style>

--- Tue, 22 Mar 2011 14:08:09 ---

Connect to 'smtp.gmail.com' port 465,

timeout 300.

14:08:09.828 [*] Connection established

to 209.85.143.109

14:08:09.967 22: Error -14 activating

SSL session (locus 6014, type 4, code 0, '')

14:08:09.967 --- Connection closed

normally at Tue, 22 Mar 2011 14:08:09. ---\0A\0A

I addressed the issue with gmail support and got as answer to verify first if my provider doesn't block ports 995 and 465.

I'll do that first thing in the morning.

Maybe this info can contribute in the diagnosis process for the OP.
