.txt files

Checked with my compadre about maybe reviewing the database itself if I send to him.

No different on the raw view check OR antivirius but as mentioned nobody else had virus problems

Following is HIS reply back to me

 Sorry.

The database won't show if you opened a file in the operating
system.  And, considering you processed the second one and it did the same
thing....  Here is the thing.  You forwarded my original email with the
attachments back to me and the txt file itself was corrupted. That indicates that it had to
happen between the internet and your email software.

It was corrupt before you did anything with it.  It could be something happening with your
software, your anti virus or your provider but has to be before you copied it.

Back again with another problem. Seems like I'm okay for a long period of time  and then there are back to back problems.

This time it involves .txt files. Each week an updated .txt file is sent to me to update an association database file. I am to take this .txt file received and save to an import file for insertion into our main database. This would be a culmination of all the updates we have sent to our database administrator. I receive all information fine but it will not load after copying the file. The other 3 individuals receiving same have no problem. I sent everything back to our database administrator and he says it is corrupted.....communication from him is as follows.

"The file you sent to me is corrupted but the one I sent to you is not I'm going to send again in another email.  The only thing I can think of
is that your email is doing something to the file on it's own." He also went on to say " A little while ago I sent the same file to Steve and had him save and email it back to me and to forward what I sent.In both cases the files he sent back were exactly as I sent to him.

I now wonder if I did something in the PM hierarch when I recently had the other problem by tryingyou folks helped me with when I was trying to remove some filing trays...I've never had any problems until just recently:

What about you AV scanner interfering? And what does I receive all information fine but it will not load after copying the file exactly mean? How can you tell the you receive all information fine and how do you copy the file? Can you please describe step by step?

One thing that may make a difference, when I used to send Oracle CSV exports some lines would be over 80 characters, this would cause issues if the 'mailer' decides that 72 is the wrap point. May be best sent as binary to avoid the issue.

 Food for thought.

The concept is the same as any other attachment and all other attachments have worked fine on many occasios.

If we (the other 3 parties involved) have any  weekly updates we pass them along and everyone's updates are put together by our main guy into a file and emailed to us as an attachment in which we update our database for which we all have a copy. Purpose of this is so we're all working on an updated database the attachment has always been same except for date reading  Don_3-20-2011_CLIAA_Exported_Complete.txt

I am receiving  his email with the attachment okay (which is what I mean by receiving)

the file has to be good because 4 others have received and entered w/o any problems (there are supposed to be 44 updates)

I will see the attachment, click on it and move up to where it says Save. then I choose where to export the file which will be into My Documents and I will then choose the organizations name file and place into the import section of that file ready to load into its dsatsabase.

Like I have said it has already been established by our leader that the file I sent back to him was corrupt but on nobody elses. As for AV scanner interferring it never has before  been a problem. I'm only one using Pegasus

This shouldn't be a problem as like I mentioned...never had problems before and 4 others received file okay w/o problems. We have utilized huge  amounts of updates this way. I know what you're saying and appreciate. I had loaded 4.61 but went back to 4.52 thinking THAT was the problem but nothing.

I recently had problems with trying remove 2 filing trays and Thomas & Michael had me doing things with the PMhiearch and I thought that might have some bearing

That doesn't really matter as they once in a while even corrupt Windows by removing supposedly "infected" system files if you don't prevent them from doing so ... but it's, of course, unlikely if all of you are using the same one ...

One thing you can do: Takle a look at the raw view and compare it to the attachment view and the file actually saved: Any differences?
