Old email retrieval

If these files include the intact headers, you might find that changing the file extensions to CNM and then mounting the folder as a new mailbox (Folders > Add mailbox to list...) in Pegasus will let you see them and work with them normally.

Anyway, they're only text files, so surely you can get some program that looks for any file with the content "bob@example.org" anywhere within it? That would presumably catch both incoming and outgoing messages...

At our organization we currently take in about 5000 emails a day using Mercury to run things and Pegasus

as the client. To make a long story short due to restrictions we have to keep copies of all incoming and outgoing

emails ( after spam and malware filters of course). Needless to say the archives are quite big. Each email is stored

as a tcpXXXX.me file. Recently we received a legal request for copies of emails from one of our users for an extended

amount of time. Needless to say the search for these emails is going to take some time. We have never put in

place a system for searching through this. Are there any users in the community that have had to do such a thing

and maybe have a proven method for searching for and copying to another location of these emails. Currently we are using

ISYS which works fine for large retrievals and copies but when it builds it index for searching it tends to count random

characters as words and this is taking a significant amount of time. Has anybody had to put a system in place and

better yet does it work

Thanks
