Identity associate with folder issue
Tks for the explaination. Much clear now.

But still have couple of questions.

For one user with two identities:
So what's your meaning of "There is a way to attach a one Users mailbox to another Users folder list."?
How to achieve my need base on attache other users mailbox to the mail user's folder and use each folder as a individual mailbox, can retrive and send mail through it?
I don't believe Pegasus Mail will do what you want to do.  Attaching a Users mailbox to another Users folder list allow you to view mail and folders in the attached mailbox but does not allow you to send mail from that mail box nor does it allow you to retrieve new mail for of the attached mailbox unless you have a mail server retrieving mail for all users.

I assume mail is being retrieved via POP3 (if it isn't, let us know how) so the best suggestion I have is to run multiple instance of Pegasus Mail, one as each of the users.  Check the "Command line options' section of the help file for specifics on the -I switch which specifies the User Pegasus starts up as and the -MS switch which allows multiple instances of Pegasus Mail to run simultaneously.  I have never done this but it seems like the best workaround for what you need.

NOTE:  You SHOULD NOT access the same mailbox from multiples instances at

the same time so you would not be able to have any mailboxes attached in

the folder list of any other instance.

 As describe in the help.
"Pegasus Mail allows you to associate a particular identity with any of your folders; then, when you forward or reply to a message from that folder, the settings from the associated identity will be used for the message instead of the current default identity."

Had associated one identity "Master" with a mailbox "Master" which has "Main Folder", "Junk Mail", "New Mail" and "Copies to self" four folders. But after test, the incoming mails and copies to self mails still go to the folders in the default "My Mailbox".
How to setup to make all ingoing and outgoing mails go to the folders in "Master" mailbox instead of the default "My Mailbox"?

You are confusing filtering or autofiltering with identity association.

To move messages automatically, create filters (Tools > Mail filtering rules...) or set up autofilters (right-click a folder and select from the Autofiltering... menu).

Associating identities is entirely different. You "join" an identity to a folder (not a mailbox) and it will then be used automatically whenever you start a reply to a message that is already in that folder. It also works if you forward a message from that folder.

Still confused.

If I had two mail account "a@abc.com" and "b@abc.com". And created two mailbox "A" and "B", each include "Main Mail", "New Mail", "Junk Mail" and "Copies to self" four folders.

How could I linked a@abc.com with mailbox A? So all ingoing and outgoing mails from a@abc.com will go to folders in mailbox A. So as b@abc.com and mailbox B.

As has been explained, you can associate an identity with a folder within a mailbox.

Right click on the folder you wish to associate with an Identity and select "set default identity for entry".

New mail can be filtered or autofiltered directly into that folder and not appear in the New Mail folder.

In other words you need a folder "A" and  folder "B" linked to their respective identities.

This can just put one identity's ingoing mails into a specific folder. But the outgoing mails for all identities will still go to the same "Copies to self" folder.

What I want to achieve, is like outlook, every email address has its individual mailbox include different functional folders.

Not if you configure "Copies to self" to place the copies in the respective folders.

This is not how Pegasus works. By default every incoming message from all of your accounts goes into the same New Mail folder.

However, if you set up automatic filters for incoming and outgoing mail and attach identities to folders, you can achieve the effect of each account having its own folder.

Personally I only filter according to topic or sender rather than by account. What if my brother sends a message on Monday to my first account, then, on Tuesday, sends another one to my second account? I want them both to end up in a single folder which contains only his messages.

Perhaps a review of Users versus Identities would be

valuable here.  Each Pegasus Mail User has his own mailbox which contains his set of

folders (new mail, main, copies to self, etc).  Each User can then have

multiple identities.  So, lets say you have one mailbox hosted by Road

Runner and another hosted by GMail and you use Pegasus Mail to retrieve the

messages from these mailboxes.  There are several ways to approach this but let's look at two options.  One is to be one Pegasus Mail User who has two identities.  Another is to be two Pegasus Mail Users.

If one User with two identities:

  • All

mail will come into a single new mail folder because there can be

only one new mail folder per User.

  • All default copies to self will go to whatever folder is

configured as the copy to self folder because there can be only one

default copy to self folder per User. (Note: you can configure Pegasus Mail to ask which folder to copy to self to)

  • There are many benefits to having two identities.  It allows you to respond to messages that came in to the GMail

account as the GMail user and respond to messages that came in to the Road

Runner mailbox as the Road Runner user, they allow you to control which identity POPs which mailboxes and which identities can check for mail for other identities.

  • The drawback is that you are limited to a single set of new mail, main and copies to self folders per User

If two Users:

  • Each User would have his own set of folders (new mail, main, copies to self,

    etc)

  • One User could be configured in to service only the GMail mailbox and the

other could be configured to service only the Road Runner mailbox

  • There

is a command line switch that can tell Pegasus Mail which User to start up

    as

  • There

is a way to attach a one Users mailbox to another Users folder list.

  • In this scenario Pegasus Mail would need to be started as each User

in order to trigger the POP3 mail retrieval for that User.  This could be worked around with a combination of identities & forwarding filters but that may be getting a bit complex.  There is also a command line

switch that allows for the running of multiple instances of Pegasus Mail, each as a different User.

The concept of multiple Users and multiple Identities per User is key.  Once this is understood you will be better able to determine

what will work best for you and we can help from there.

FYI- Creating multiple Users is done through Addresses|User management.  Details of the command line switches are available in the

"Command line options" section of the help file.

Tks for the explaination. Much clear now.

But still have couple of questions.

For one user with two identities:
" This could be worked around with a combination of identities & forwarding filters but that may be getting a bit complex. "
How could this be achieved? Even it may be complex, but would like to know.

For two users:
Have tried three users, let's say A, B, C. Each works fine individually.
But would like to see all users mails (B and C) in one's interface (A). So try to attach other two users' mailbox to the mail user's folder list.
So user A's interface have folder B and folder C.
But seems it only shows the mails which has already been retrived from sever in the folder.
Can not retrive new mails to the folder. .
New mails go to the mail user's new mail floder automatically, no matter which identities you are using.
E.g. User B's identity can only retrive the mail to User A's folder, not sub-folder "new mail" in folder B.
So what's your meaning of "There is a way to attach a one Users mailbox to another Users folder list."?
How to achieve my need base on attache other users mailbox to the mail user's folder and use each folder as a individual mailbox, can retrive and send mail through it?

The quote "This could be ....etc" refers to multiple users rather than multiple identities.

From an overall perspective it is probably an error to try and make Pmail perform in the same manner as another email program and you should focus more on what is there rather than what you wish was there.

As has been outlined, the facility to add another user's mailbox in multiple user mode provides limited functionality in terms of mailbox management and the complexity of trying to overcome the limitations probably makes it an unrealistic option in what you are trying to achieve.
