No. We once had such a system but it only left David Harris depressed about the sheer amount of issues reported in there.

This is a bug I've seen in PMail for a while both under WinXP and Win7.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Begin to compose a new message and use the 'TO messaging options' button next to the 'To' field to bring up the address book
2) Select a few addresses from the list
3) Focus another (non-PMail) window, e.g. your web browser or IM client
4) Go back to PMail - the window has gone, taking your selected addresses with it.

This is particularly annoying if you're going through selecting a lot of recipients for the message and forget about it and pop to an IM conversation or to a webpage.

If you click OK before you go everything will be preserved.

Yes, I know that, but that's a workaround.  I think the existing behaviour is a bug - I sometimes send emails to groups of people, not consistently enough to set up distribution lists, but going through my address books and picking people manually.  With my internet-shortened attention span, this can be broken up by IMs or going to web pages and I keep forgetting that I can't do that while the address picker is open.  Any idea if this will be fixed by the new messaging centre?

That depends on whether the powers that be see it as a bug. Probably not.

Its a two stage process and if you don't complete stage two (OK) you lose the info.

But isn't that like saying that if you don't complete composing and sending an email in one go, without changing focus, it's okay to lose that too?

You won't lose the message while the new message window is active whether it is to the front or not, regardless of where you go. You can always save a message in preparation as well, if you need to.  In both cases the info contained in the Addressing Centre is also retained, as long as you enter OK after selecting addresses.

Is this recorded anywhere that is readily accessible.

It would be useful if members could establish quickly whether a particular concern had been raised previously and whether something was in train to provide a solution.
