Setting(s) in Reply Dialog Won't Stick

[quote user="Jerry Wise"]

Remember there is a setting in Tools, Options:

Remember address selection options in reply dialog .... Leaving this option unchecked allows these controls to work on a per-message basis ... makes it very easy to select exactly which addresses in a message you wish to use when composing a reply, and we recommend that it normally be turned off.  Hmmm. I had the "remember address selection options" button checked. I will uncheck it and see what happens. Regardless, having the newly discovered reply button options gives me a simple resolution no matter what else I do. Thank you for your time and information.

I looked through the FAQ (I promise!) and couldn't find anything. When I go to reply to a message with multiple addresses in the original, Pegasus used to send my replies to all addresses in the top line, including the original sender.

Now, it continues to select the option to "reply to" and then a list of options. I don't want this! So I check the reply to all addresses button and send my reply to all. Next time I write a reply, the button for "reply to" with all the options (the 2nd button in the dialog box) is again checked instead of the other (1st line in dialog box) which I had just changed. This has always been the way I had Pegasus set up and how I used it.

Could I have changed something inadvertently that keeps making my selection change? I looked through the "HELP" section in this dialog and I should have all set so that all original addressees should get the reply. Am I doing something incorrectly? What has changed?

Thanks for any information on this annoyance. [:(]

Let's try to go one step at a time as it gets confusing  First of all look carefully at the Reply button on  the toolbar when  you have a message open for reading or you are in a messages folder. Run the mouse cursor across the button surface slowly, the button is split, and then click on the right portion. You have descriptive text and a choice to be made there.

There are also mutiple ways to reply to a message using keyboard shortcuts like Q, R and A key. The dialog using R or Reply button remembers the last setting used so you might have the From or the CC or other checked or you may also have none checkmarked. Then the default action of hitting the button can be set and will be remembered. The default with no items checked in the reply dialog is to reply to the From address or use the default reply address one if present. If the reply address is checked but then there is none present in the next message a reply to the From address is used. Are you confused yet<G>? Experiment with the settings and then decide what way you will reply, with key or via button and what you want remembered.

You've shown me something already. I never knew that option existed! I see where you are going (I think...).

Confused? Just a little, but it's not hard! [;)] I now have some options to play with and I just need to get an email with multiple addressees so I can experiment with this new-found knowledge. I'm still surprised I never noticed that little down arrow on the right side of the "reply" button before. But thanks for the tip!

I will see if my selections remain checked after using these options next time. IAC, I can select my choice easily even if the settings don't stick, courtesy of the arrow on the "reply" button. Thank you so much for pointing this out to me and giving me something to use to see if I can make things work like they used to. Thanks again!

Remember there is a setting in Tools, Options:

Remember address selection options in reply dialog  When this control is checked, the five address selection controls at the bottom of the reply dialog will remember their settings from message to message, as will the Copy original's CC field into reply option. Leaving this option unchecked allows these controls to work on a per-message basis, resetting them before each reply. Working with this control unchecked makes it very easy to select exactly which addresses in a message you wish to use when composing a reply, and we recommend that it normally be turned off.
