Help please, various and sundry problems -- Eudora refugee
Is there any way to get mailboxes to automatically open once you've collected mail and the emails have filtered new mail into the mailboxes?    I haven't been able to find information on this either in the help or here on this site.
Not that I'm aware of.

Not sure if you know that you can get the mail folder font to change colour, so that can easily see which mail folders have new mail.

Go to Tools / Options and look under Incoming Mail / Folder behaviours. Set the colour for recent unread mail.

Cheers

Just spent 30 mins writing a long email and then it poofed and is gone.

I need help with Pmail dialing it in and getting it set up correctly. Is there anyone here who would be willing to answer some questions?   I really need help because Eudora melted down on me and I'm struggling hard with being disorganized because of it. My life is starting to be really difficult to manage so it's putting me on edge.

So if some kind expert soul would be willing to help me out, I have some problems that I'm not finding solutions for.

When I open an email to read (I use the old style, not the preview style), the top of the window opens up INSIDE the toolbar itself.  So the top of the window is inaccessible to me, I can't use the X close button, don't know how else to close an email, so it's being just irritating.  Have tried cold rebooting, looking for any setting that it could be and not finding one, closing the program and reopening (not in that order), changing the sizes of the program and email windows.

Prior to this, I had to reinstall the program because Pegasus suddenly demanded a "user name" which I hadn't set up, and would not accept "default" or my email address or any other name I could concoct.  I searched the knowledge base and found instructions for reinstalling in another folder, testing it, then moving over mailboxes.  Unfortunately, I was not successful in moving over all those mailboxes because I'd downloaded emails into Pegasus and didn't want to lose them.  So now I have important emails in two different installations of Pegasus with no understanding of how to bring them together.

This learning curve is really being difficult.  Adding to my difficulties, the program suddenly started doing something new that has ruined my In Box by suddenly, without permission, imposing a subfolder for each days' mail, which then open in a closed position, necessitating that I go down the list checking off each one to get them to open. I use my InBox holistically, leaving tasks there that aren't done, moving things away that are completed, and absolutely do not want the days' mail segregated-- that what sorting by date is for.  I don't know why this got imposed, and cannot discern how to make it go away, but the fact that the program is changing things up on me without my knowledge or consent is causing me to lose hope about becoming competent in Pegasus, since I can't control the variables in order to learn how to work it.

I also set up filters using the simple wizard because that's all I needed to do, and they aren't working, nothing is happening, no folders are opening with the filtered emails in them.  Also I went to collect mail earlier, and P status line said it was downloading 60 or something emails, but they never showed up, just poof, apparently.  This makes me crazy, because I depend on my email to make a living, staying in touch with publishers who are my clients.  It may not have poofed them all, because I collected email later and there were 64 emails or something, which seemed like a lot, but on the other hand it didn't seem like enough over 60 for that timeframe either.  So these things are confusing me and I'm now at a loss.

Oh one more thing, I tried to use a program (Mail System Converter) to import my emails from Eudora, but it didn't work (and don't think I could describe what happened, unfortunately). And I've been having more problems since.  So I'm just really in need of help.

Now the open email that I can't close because the X Box is embedded in the Pegasus Toolbar has moved even farther up, but now is covering over the controls for checking mail. I actually can't use the button to check mail because the top of the "zombie-email that will not close" has moved again and is now blocking those buttons. I did find another way, through the Menus, to check mail, but I can't find a way to close an individual email in the menus or by right clicking.  That seems like an oversight to me.

In any case the program is now nonfunctional yet unfortunately I am dependent on it.  I'm loathe to launch into another reinstall without supervision since I have not succeeded and now my emails are split into 3 places, Eudora 6.1.2.1 and two diff folders of Pegasus.

Ok one more permutation-- the right edge of the open email that I cannot close (and there must be others behind it also open), has now "moved" beyong the edge of the email program, embedded in the side wall, where I cannot use the slider that allows me to move up and down in the email body to read it.  I can use the down/up keyboard arrows, but not the slider.

I also can use the down/up buttons that P has available to cycle through emails, but the window that all happens in is getting more and more distorted.

Oh this is crazy-- I just moved the Pegasus right side wall further right, opening it up more, and the email windows finally revealed itself.  I had changed the size of the P program window earlier, with no change.  But I think I moved it with the corner 2-way moving, not just the side wall moving.  I'm sorry for all the panic.  As I said, the deep disorder the loss of Eudora has created has gotten on my last nerve.

I still need help with a collection of problems, as outlined in the first query.  Filters haven't kicked in, unwanted date subfolders, seeming instability and unpredictability-- or maybe I'm just too dense for this program.

Was able to search knowledge base and find out that closing the NEW MAIL mailbox will allow P to make mail visible when I've seen it download on status line but it's not visible.  It seems like the NEW mailbox is meant to be constantly emptied and closed in P.

I will make separate posts for my filter question and for the date subfolders.

The new mail has more than one function and several settings and is truly designed to be a temporary storage location. It is just visual display of the raw *.cnm files and all messages  pass through it on their way to other "real" messages folders (*.pmm and *.pmi file pairs) either manually or by use of filtering rules.

There are also other functions that are triggered or initiated by open of new mail folder.

There is much information in the Help menu and Help index where there is three or more separate topics of new mail information.

I've read over all the Help information about the New Mail box, and just went over it again to be sure.  It's counterintuititive to me, to separate mail I've already read from mail I haven't yet read when I'm managing my In Box day to day.  Sometimes I want to mark something unread so I'll notice it again, but I still need it in context.  So I need to just keep experimenting, it seems. I need to figure out a new way of managing my email, clearly.

Is there any way to get mailboxes to automatically open once you've collected mail and the emails have filtered new mail into the mailboxes?    I haven't been able to find information on this either in the help or here on this site.
