Start with settings in Tools, Internet options, Receiving, and Edit. Help shows:

Delete mail from host once it has been successfully retrieved  If you check this box, Pegasus Mail will delete the host's copy of each mail message it successfully downloads, which will prevent it from being presented to you again the next time you retrieve mail. Leaving this box unchecked tells Pegasus Mail to leave the mail on the host even if successfully downloaded. Mail left on the server will be retrieved every time you download mail. 

I am a long time user of Eudora and have decided to finally make the jump to a new client. 

 I need to have all mail downloaded to my desktop and my notebook. I do this now by having all new mail downloaded to each and setting Eudora to delete from the server in 14 days. I also get all new mail sent to my smartphone.

I do not see an option to do this in Pegasus. I do like a lot of the features but I need backup of the mail. I filter the mail into customer folders and keep it for up to 8 years so IMAP is a space problem.

 Any Ideas?

Go to Tools > Internet Options > Receiving Tab > Edit > General Tab.  There you should find a selection, "Delete mail on server once it has been successfully retrieved". Make sure this is un-checked. This should leave messages on the server until you take steps to remove them. Unfortunately, I do not know of a way to automatically delete them after 14 days. There may be a way to do so using mail filtering rules, but as I don't use them, I'm not familiar with them. I know others visiting this form are very skilled with them and may be able to provide help.

Pmail's File menu has an option 'Selective mail download' that lets you preview message header information before downloading and will allow deleting messages with or without downloading them. This could be a way you could delete older messages since it overrides the above step to leave mail on the server. Unfortunately, this is a rather bothersome way especially if you have lots of mail. It may be a work-around until one of the 'gurus' can share a more 'elegant' way.
