Update to Virscan needed for AVG2012

[quote user="Jerry Wise"]Virscan.ini would be in the \programs location or same place where winpm-32 is located. You may or may not be using Virscan extension. You can pick up a copy from the Community downloads site or from Martin Ireland home page also.

Thanks, Jerry. I was unfamiliar with the Virscan extension for PMail. I was getting even more confused because I came across a "Virscan.inf " when I googled "virscan.ini"

I've used PMail for quite a few years without the Virscan extension so I guess I'll continue unless there's an overriding reason to install it.

 My apologies for the multiple posts in this thread. When I hit "Post" I got no indication that they went through, so I hit it a few more times.[:(] I hope a moderator can delete the excess.

I have been advised that updating to the 2012 release of AVG requires that Virscan.ini be updated. Using Notepad, the following AVG location line should replace the existing line, with the directory information suitably updated for your installation:

CmdLine=C:\Program Files (x86)\AVG\AVG2012\Avgscana.exe /SCAN /ARC "%f"

Please note that the program executable has also changed from Avgscanx.exe to Avgscana.exe

A bit more help, Martin, if you please...

Where would one find the file Virscan.ini? It doesn't appear in any of my Pmail folders and I haven't had any success searching the AVG folders or Windows folders with Explorer.

 Thanks,

Jim

Virscan.ini would be in the \programs location or same place where winpm-32 is located. You may or may not be using Virscan extension. You can pick up a copy from the Community downloads site or from Martin Ireland home page also.

Jim, does your issue really need to be posted four times in a row? Do you actually use Martin's VirScan extension at all? Otherwise it won't affect you ...
