PM 4.62: Can't search folder letter by letter

Hello Michael,
I was assuming you knew what applications are running on your machine, no?
regarding the applications I like to say "yes", but it's hard to see behind the curtain...

IIRC I didn't defined any macros. But now I remember month ago I installed and tried to use "Textbausteine" without success. I will uninstall this and try again.
BTW: I also wonder why you need to open this particular folder if you can just open the found message from the search results folder as well?
There may be several reasons:
- I remember the topic and want to recall the correspondence,
- I recieved a new mail to this seldom used topic and want to move it there,
- I feel the need for a reorder of folder hierarchy.

Best regards
Wolfgang

Hello,

I'm using PM 4.62 (German version) / WinXPSp3.

I have searched for a message and found it. But now I'm looking for the dedicated folder. Help says: "When the Folder Manager window is frontmost, you can type the first few characters of a folder or tray's name to select it quickly."

This does not work like expected: The "few" letters didn't build a string; every letter typed wants to be his own letter No. 1.

Maybe this is a matter of time frame: when I'm pepared to type letters very very quickly I was able to "use" up to three letters to find an appropriate folder. (Well, three letters were looking like coincidence because of folder sequence.)

Besides this problem it would be fine to have a "find next" function.

Best regards
Wolfgang

I cannot confirm this, I could type in four letters at a speed slower than I usually type text (I'm not a well-trained type writer) for finding the respective folder (search sequence PM => PMe => PMex).

Hello Michael,

many thanks for your answer.
I cannot confirm this, I could type in four letters at a speed slower than I usually type text for finding the respective folder.
So I have to assume that this is a 'special feature' of my slightly confused windows system. Here typing letters means jumping top to bottom through the folder manager, stopping at the next name with the appropriate letter in first position.

Best regards
Wolfgang

Do you use a macro application jumping in on certain shortcuts, maybe? What about trying again after disabling it? (Just to be sure I tested with the German version of Pegasus Mail and didn't notice any changes with regard to "type through".)

Heelo Michael,
Do you use a macro application jumping in on certain shortcuts, maybe?
not that I am aware of. (Where should I look for?)

But don't care too much. I opened the file hierarch.pm to look for traces to the searched folder and succeeded.

Best regards and thanks again
Wolfgang
