Fixed Width Font
Are "Terminal" and "Fixedsys" similar ? The same thing ? Are they both fixed-width fonts ?
Similar, not same but both fixed-pitch. And both are not aware of unicode-characters ... so don't use them. Courier New is a good choice for fixed pitch ... depends on OS. May be you have "OCR A" or "Lucida Sans Typewriter" or "Lucida Console" or "Consolas"
At any rate, what I want is to read and compose my E-mail in something that comes across as Ascii text, and not chosen fonts and so on. i.e., for me, E-mail should normally be, "Just the text, please"
That's not the problem of fixed pitch font. If it's HTML and you choosed to see the most fancy or formated version (see options), you will see HTML-version (and if defined there: a special font/fontfamily), even if there is a simple textversion. Composing normal textmail is simple: enable all options for disabling formating. Your choice for fonts in Pegasus doesn't effect HTML-mails with defined fonts.

Here's a verification "corner" that I'll bet nobody ever thought of in beta testing...

By accident, I unplugged the thumb drive (from which Pegasus was executing) while Pegasus was still active on the machine.

Thinking "oops", I plugged it back in, but I may have, possibly, plugged it into the other USB jack; I'm not really sure.

I honestly don't know what settings were screwed up by that, but, my preview window, and my composition window, are no longer displaying text in my chosen font.  I want t fixed width font for both composition and reading.

There's an option to do this somewhere.

I have just spent 20 or 30 minutes trying to track down that setting.

I know it's somewhere. I did exactly that several months ago.

Brain assistance welcome

depending on used view you have to do it for every kind of windows. There should be a blue (in older versions red) "f" in your main icon-toolbar.

Klick in preview window, than klick "f"-icon. Should be 3 options for choosing a font. Same with composition windows but only one option.

FWIW, I edit pmail.ini for this.

Cheers!

I just opened that file. Looks like it has 20 entries which have the word "font" in them.

Taking a second look, it appears that each Identity has its own font setting.

Here are two separate cut-and-paste sections

--------------------

 • Font to use in message reader = Terminal, 13, 13
 • Font to use in message editor = Fixedsys, 15, 4
 • Font to use in folder browser = Arial, 14, 0
 • Font to use for printing = -, 15, 0

---------------------

 • Font to use in message reader = Arial, 10, 0
 • Font to use in message editor = Arial, 10, 0
 • Font to use in folder browser = Arial, 14, 0
 • Font to use for printing = Courier New, 15, 5

--------------------

Are "Terminal" and "Fixedsys" similar ? The same thing ? Are they both fixed-width fonts ?

I'm wondering if I want to get into the same level of manipulation that you are doing; i.e., will it make more sense to just use the user interface directly ?

At any rate, what I want is to read and compose my E-mail in something that comes across as Ascii text, and not chosen fonts and so on.

i.e., for me, E-mail should normally be, "Just the text, please"

IMHO: not for changing fonts and not as long I don't know more about the IT-background of the person I'm advising.

Irrespective of that ... the fact that most INI-Files of Pegasus are pure text is one of best features of Pegasus. And there are some features or even some small, infrequent or even by most people never seen bugs, that may be used / activated respectively fixed by editing the INI-Files. I'm very happy about that!
