Mercury error messages when using Pmail distribution lists

Hi Olaf,

I have red the user manual again and found some requirements for the "To:" field within the settings of distribution lists. It should looks like a real e-mail address. I will test it again.

Greetings

Joerg

Hi,

we often use distribution lists of Pmail's address book. When creating a new distribution list for e.g. a newsletter to all of our customers, all receipients have to be added and additional settings have to be made. Within these settings e.g. a "To:" field has to be completed. This "To:" field is shown to each recipient and should avoid that all real addresses of all newsletter subscribers are recognizable. A typical entry of this "To:" field is: "to all of our customers". But of course this is not a real e-mail address.

Anyway, when creating a new mail in Pegasus by using one of the prepared distribution lists, Pmail will open a new E-mail window where the distribution list name (e.g. "@LIST4EAC.PML") is automatically added in the "To:" field. So far so good. When sending the mail via Mercury to the world, the Mercury SMTP Client creates single mails to all recipients of the distribution list. Further all of these mails are getting sent without problem.

But Mercury always returns 2 error messages to Pmail:

1.

from Electronic Postmaster: "The attached message has failed delivery and has been referred
to you as postmaster. The following error report or reports were given to explain the problem:

*** to all of our customers
User "to all of our customers" not known at this site.

2.

from SMTP System: With reference to your message with the subject:
   "newsletter 12-2011"

Folgendes Problem trat beim email Versand ber das Marsig email System auf:

-------------------------------------------------------------------
*** to all of our customers

User "to all of our customers" not known at this site.
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Are there any settings available which avoid the return of those error messages?

Thanks and best regards

Joerg

I normaly put an existing mailaddress in the TO of a distributionlist. So don't have that problem.

But may be you should use "undisclosed receipients;". I'm not shure if I have read this somwhere. Don't remember if the ";" is the trick or the whole phrase.

cheers   Olaf
