downloading new version to resolve freeze

Thanks for pswd tip, I explored and found it under "edit" button.

I experimented and found that if I send myself a plain text email, it worked ok.   That told me it had something to do with html, a real Sherlock Holmes I am.

I started w/Minidump and also Rendererer.   The solution?

I disabled the Pegasus html Renderer.   I thought that enables html viewing, but counterintuitively... everything looks great for time being.  Can see pictures and everything in the nice looking version new 4.62

I guess in theory I should add back the CNM files one at a time per instruction, but as we say here in U.S., "I don't think so", not when I have hundreds of those emails! [:)]

Michael in der Wiesche, thanks so much for all your patience and help.  Ein schönes Sylvesterfeier und ein guten Rutsch im Neuen Jahr.

Hi

Pegasus freezes on load, the infamous "not responding" and I start to see the frame with one folder, it says "applying filtering", and that's it. I have:

Windows 7

Pegasus version - it's frozen so I don't know! I downloaded exactly 2 years ago if that's a clue

POP3

From the FAQ it looks like my first/best course of action is to download new version of Pegaus.  Question - will that wipe out my old emails?  How can I get my old emails into new download?  I look in my PMail folder and there are lots of files, but I don't know what any of them mean.  Thank you.

Stop Pegasus, move all files with extension CNM in your mailboxdirectory to another diretory, start Pegasus. Should work fine. Now move back the saved CNM one by one and have a look, if Pegasus stops again on a special mail. Or you may disable filteing. Is there any AV scanning the mailbox?

Pegasus is not Microsoft Office. Updates in most cases don't resolv such a problem. You may update ... but only if you get Pegasus responding again.
Question - will that wipe out my old emails?
Save all fils  in your mailboxdirectory. After updating Pegasus, normaly all should be there again. You may delete the saved files. For more Information search the forum. This question has been answered several times.

It is safe to download and install the latest version. With Win7 there is the problem of UAC - user access control. Not sure where you installed (default is c:\pmail) which is OK under Win7. Do not upgrade to InternetExplorer version 9.

Is Win7 32bit or 64bit? If 64bit there are a few oddities that will cause trouble, do a search of the forum for Win7 for more information.

Why shouldn't he (aside from the fact that he most probably already did)? There's no reason affecting Pegasus Mail to not use IE 9 with the latest version.

I am almost there.  I moved CNM files out, and I updated to the latest version.  Pegasus opens nicely, and the other email folders and emails are still there.

One problem - I had changed my password with the web/email provider (Verizon) due to another problem. Now, when I try to get new emails it won't connect.  I went to "Extensions" and did the password change, but when I press the "change password" button it does nothing.

I tried to attach a screen shot but don't see it in the preview.

Vielen Dank, Frohe Weihnachten.

Thanks, but alas that path only allows for the POP3 and SMTP server names, I see nothing anywhere in there to do with password.

So I changed my provider pswd back to the old one, and Pegasus fired up and downloaded emails.  This is a short-term fix until I resolve Pegasus "non-change" of pswd issue,;  due to phishing problems I had (had nothing to do with Pegasus, those problems were only operating off the server itself), I definitely want to be able to change that password away from the old one.

So now, subsequent to Pegasus working with the "old" pswd,  I start it and am getting the "Mailbox is locked" message/picture. Even a computer restart didn't get rid of it, and yes I did close it with TaskManager. I also have had it crash 3 times.  One thing after another...

As long as Pegasus Mail terminates irregularly you'll see this message dialog.
