Can't reproduce that at all. Double clicking two addresses in an addressbook allways opens two new mail editors.
Olaf, I can confirm that there has been a change although I couldn't duplicate this issue either, <snip> this is certainly a very low priority issue (if even inconvenient), IMO.

I agree that this is a low priority issue, since the workaround is pretty easy, but once the next release starts getting closer, it should be an easy fix, so I figured I'd point it out.
Okay, so here's two ways I can replicate this...they're both essentially the same, but:
Method 1 (if the message editor window is sized such that it obscures all of the addresses in the address book when the message editor opens):
1: Double-click on an address in my "main" address book. The message editor opens in the foreground in a window that almost completely obscures the address book window and gets focus, with the double-clicked address in the "To:" field, and the cursor at the beginning of the "To:" field.
2: Click on the title bar of my "main" address book. This brings the address book back to the foreground after it was covered up by the message editor window.
3: Double-click on a second address in my "main" address book. The address book retains focus, and the "To:" field in the message editor is updated such that the second address, preceded by a comma, is prepended to the address that was already in the "To:" field of the message editor.
Method 2 (if addresses in the address book are visible after the message editor opens):
1: Double-click on an address in my "main" address book. The message editor opens in the foreground and gets focus, with the double-clicked address in the "To:" field, and the cursor at the beginning of the "To:" field.
2: Double-click on a second address in my "main" address book. The address book regains focus, and the "To:" field in the message editor is updated such that the second address, preceded by a comma, is prepended to the address that was already in the "To:" field of the message editor.
For what it's worth, I can replicate the "any double-clicked address opens a new message editor window" behavior by doing the following:
1: Double-click on an address in my "main" address book. The message editor opens in the foreground and gets focus, with the double-clicked address in the "To:" field, and the cursor at the beginning of the "To:" field.
2: Click on either my inbox window or my folders window (the only two windows that are normally open other than my address book in my setup). The clicked window comes to the foreground and gets focus.
3: Double-click on an address in my "main" address book (or click the title bar of the address book, then double-click an address). A new message editor window opens in the foreground as in step 1.

P.S. One thing about my setup: It's not what you'd call "standard"...Many years ago, on one of the upgrade cycles (maybe from 2.x to 3.x), the way address book windows opened got changed, and although the previous functionality kept working as long as the previously-opened address book was never closed, closing the old-style address book caused that look to be gone for good...as a result, my "desktop.pm0" file has remained unchanged for...oh, at least 8 years.
