I upgraded one of our customers to Pegasus Mail 4.63.  They are running on Windows Server 2003 SP2
acting as a terminal services server.
Ever since then, I have a user encountering a problem.  When exiting Pegasus Mail at the end of the day, they reliably get the following error :
"winpm-32 application error
The exception unknown software exception (0x40000015) occurred in the application at location 0x02772a08.  Click on OK to terminate the program."

I tried installing the minidump extension and modified the Pegasus Mail shortcut to run it but it doesn't seem to trigger on this error.  This seems to be the only problem the user is experiencing, and no other users are experiencing any issues on this server.  I can't find any evidence of folder corruption, and her settings seem normal.

Has anyone else encountered this issue?  We've been running Pegasus Mail since the v2 days and it is unusual for us to encounter a fault like this.

Thanks,

Gary Thorne

I just upgraded, and inside Pegasus seems to function okay, but after I've exited (and the gui of Pegasus is gone), then I get a windows exception error.

I'm running XP Pro 64bit  SP2

Would you verify you have Tools, Options, Advanced Winsock loading set to Always?

You'll probably need to run PMDebug.exe (resp. use the Debug Pegasus Mail shortcut) from the MiniDump extension to catch it.

Thanks, I was able to get a crashdump successfully by using the shortcut.  Unfortunately, the email address to send it to was not saved with the message to be sent.  I emailed a copy of the email to myself and can forward it to you if you are willing to look at it.  You can private message me the email address.

Thanks,

Gary Thorne

I don't really understand, but the report address is <beta-reports [at] pmail.gen.nz>.

Thank you for the email address.  I just forwarded the debug report with a copy of the attachment.

Michael correctly diagnosed this problem after receiving a correct crashdump.  The printer driver for the Ricoh Aficio mp 201 pcl 6 was causing the crash.  I switched the user to a new default printer and didn't experience the issue.  Thanks for the great support!
