Show all messages?

That's a good idea. I use Postbox at home and that polls several POP3 and IMAP accounts and it has an 'All mail' node. It is useful to be able to list all the messages so that I can see at a glance what has arrived instead of selecting each mail account individually. Also, it is much faster to find a message when you know From, subject or Date. However, searching in Postbox is quite different as the results are nearly instantaneous.

Hi All,

I have a question that I hope - and believe - the specialists here can answer quickly :)

Does  PM include a functionality to show all messages in one view, regardless of folder where it is filed?

I know this from my job, where Lotus Notes is used and there you can create folders to categorize your mails. There is also a view named "All messages" , which shows all of your mails with one click, from all folders, sorted either alphabetically, by date or whatever else you want. Since LN is basically a database, I guess it's easy to implement there, but does have PM something similar or not?

Thanks for your input
Thomas

Just an observation: Why would anyone want to view a list of hundreds if not thousands of emails, even if sorted into some sort of order?  If you are looking for something or someone, just use the search option and a list meeting your search arguments will be produced.

Well, it is convenient if you have only partial or approximate information. In a particular case, I know the approximate date to +/- one day, but keywords are more vague, and I'd perhaps need several searches (or a very broad coverage in one search) to find something. In addition, a search takes some time (across all folders several minutes here). Having the option of just clicking on the "show all" view and sorting by date (in this example), makes finding more comfortable and immediate. I see though, that in Lotus Notes (as I said, I have to use it at work) this might be possible due to its overall database structure, while in most mail clients storage is solved in another way.

I guess thus that there is no such option, but thanks for answering anyway :)

Best
Thomas
