how to save and recover a complete installation

Yes this works, I have backed the whole folder up too (Mercury directory structure). All of the files are located in the folder so it really is that easy. Watch path/folder name in case that changes as mentioned here.  Some things really are that easy, and totally makes sense to keep the backup so you don't have to reconfigure. Post if you still have an issue.

Hello,

my Mercury is running very well now and I am very glad that it works so good. (thx to Mr Stephens)

Now I want to save the settings, so that I can recover the complete installation without a new setup.

I really don't remember all the settings I've made  the last 6 Weeks.

Is it possible -foe example- to save a *.ini file and so to start a copy of the mailserver on a new PC if the old one crashes or gets infected or something elese?

Is it necessary to use exact the same *.exe to install the server or can I use a newer one then?

Is there a "nomal" way for a "playing" backup?

thanks for information

Backup the entire Mercury directory structure and then you can restore it to a new system.

You need to restore the backup and then update Mercury on the new system.

Hello Thomas,

that's really all???

Just saving the complete directory?

And then copying back on a new system?

Cool ;-)

Thank you for the information.

If you run Mercury as a service then the service will need to be re-installed in Windows, but all Mercury settings are in the directory and can easily be copied. Make sure that the path to the directory is the same on the new system, though.
