Printing partial message

[quote user="lhhesscpa"]

Ok. I have IERenderer installed, can see the icon & understand how to turn in off and on.

But I don't see any difference in results whether I use it or not.

With IERenderer enabled you will have the printing options that have been discussed in this thread. Without you won't.

Even though I select only the portion of a message I want to print, Pegasus prints the entire message.

The work around is to copy what you want to print then paste it into a text editor and print from there.  You can also copy and paste the contents of the header banner if you need that included in your print.  If you are trying to preserve HTML you will need to paste into something like MS Word.

Try working from the Attachments view with an open message in List mode.

The option to work in the Attachments view is only available with HTML messages.  Attachment preview must be enabled as well.

Yes. Sorry about that, I was referring to HTML messages as a follow up.  You don't need to go there for plain text messages.

Thanks! That does (nearly) everything I want. Only the header isn't copied.

Hmmm... Printing only the selected portion is not working here.

I just tested selecting the option to print the selected portion and the entire message prints including the headers.  IERenderer v2.4.7.4 is enabled.

Retested with IERenderer disabled and got the same result.

Not sure why but it's not something I ever used so am not going to miss it.

As for header printing, the "PrintHeaders=" entry in the ierenderer.ini file controls header printing.  Set it to "YES" to print headers.

Check the setting in Tools | Options |  Message reader | Use alternate font for printing messages  to make sure this is not turned on. This option overrides the selected text option for printing plain text messages.  When printing HTML using IERenderer there is an option to print selected text as well.

PrintHeaders= in ierenderer.ini is set to YES.

Here's exactly what I am doing:

In either List View or Folder View

Select & open message

Click on Attachments tab

Click on HTML text

Select text in message

Click Print button

Click Selected portion button

I also tried configuring the Print settings to print a banner header on the first page, but when that option was chosen nothing printed.

Turning it off made no difference.  I still can't get a selected portion print.

As in the "selected portion" print option?  If so, it's not working here.

Where is the setting for "printing HTML using IERenderer"?

Huh?  When using IERenderer the printing of HTML messages using it's print routines is automatic.  Are you using IERenderer?  Are you printing the message from the preview or classic mode?

I've been printing from both preview & classic modes.

This is really strange, this sounds like you are doing something other than what I am
doing.  I have a message open in the classic mode and select the text from the
message, either plain text and HTML.  With plain text it asks me whether I want to
print the select text and with HTML the IERenderer pops up and I can select the option
to print the select text.

You are trying to print from the message view are you not?

I did the same as you describe. Maybe my problem is I don't know how to recognize the IERenderer.

I have jpg screenshots of what I'm doing but don't seem to be able to insert them.

I must be missing something here. I do not see a way to select part of an html message and print off only the selected portion. Html is printed by page and all the print routines give you the opportunity to print off selected "pages" at whatever width or height. As far as I can see, selecting text is only supposed to extract the text, without all the html markup, so it can be paste'd into an editor like Notepad.  You would lose all the formatting and sizing specifications that the originator intended.

So how do you explain that you can select to be included in a reply?.
