Upgrade advice from 4.51 to 4.63

In the interest of marking this thread resolved, just thought I'd report that all is still well post upgrade.  My original concern with doing it was that I didn't have a test system to see what the upgrade would do, so if something funny happened in my main network install (which is accessed by 30-ish people) it would have been unfortunate.

Thanks.

Hello

Using Pegasus 4.51 with multiple users on a Server 2003 network with Mercury 4.52.

I've generally had no problem with either for many years (if it ain't broke, don't upgrade it), other than now with Windows7, Pegasus has its issue with toolbar buttons not appearing sometimes.  I've been prevented from upgrading Pegasus previously due to a Windows 98 computer still being in use.  But finally that is no longer an obstacle.

Is there any reason to upgrade Pegasus from 4.51 to 4.52 to 4.61 to 4.63?  I understand with 4.52 there was an upgrade or full reinstall option with upgrade recommended.  Does 4.63 have the same options, and from 4.51 is one preferred over the other?  Is Pegasus 4.63 happy to work with Mercury 4.52, or will Mercury require an upgrade aswell?  If so, does upgrading Mercury or Pegasus first make a difference?

Replies may prompt further questions, so that'll do for now.

Thanks for your help.

Mercury works with all versions of Pegasus Mail, so the Mercury upgrade should be invisible to Pegasus Mail.  Mercury upgrade takes about 15 minutes including the download.  You do have to stop Mercury for the upgrade.

Pegasus Mail works with all versions of Mercury, so the Pegasus Mail upgrade have no affect on Mercury.  All you need to do in run winpm-463.exe as an upgrade over the current v4.5.  Again, Pegasus Mail must be shut down with no active users during the upgrade.

I always recommend using the latest version of the software though for bug fixes and new functions.
