Drag and drop of attachments to new messages doesn't work

I don't know whether the drag and drop problem is system wide or Pegasus specific but here are a some thoughts...

  • A sticking Esc or Ctrl key will cause drag and drop to fail.
  •  I read that in Win7 you can't drag and drop to/from applications running at different privilege levels (one running as admin).  I don't use a Win7 PC so can't test to verify.

If problem is system wide:

  • There is a security setting in IE8 & IE9 that affects drag and drop behavior.  Verify that it is enabled.  The setting is located in Tools>Internet Options>Security tab>Custom Level>Miscellaneous

heading>"Drag and drop or copy and paste heading".

  • Test in Safe mode.  If it works then look for an issue with a driver or a utility/application/service that runs at startup.

I recently moved to a new PC (running Win 7 ultimate) and installed Pegasus 4.62, copying across all my email/settings etc from my old machine.

All was fine EXCEPT that I couldn't drag and drop any attachments to the Attachments tab of the new message window.

This

is now beginning to bug me, so I've just updated to Pegasus 4.63 in the

hope that it was simply a bug in 4.62 (though given my 15 year

experience with Pegasus, that seemed unlikely).

Sadly this has not

resolved the problem - I drag a file from Explorer onto the Attachments tab, it looks like it's going to work, but once I drop

the file, it's apparent that it hasn't worked.

I can still add attachments using the "Add attachment" dialogue.

Can anybody help me resolve this please?

Thanks,

Adrian

I just tested this on my Win7 test system and it works as designed however maybe you and I are doing this differently, I have the attachments tab open.  If not I suspect there is some problem with the rights in Win7.

I just tested using both left and right mouse button and by drop on the closed attachments tab in Editor and all worked as before using v4.63 and win7-64 with no custom alterations to  Win system or mouse driver settings.

Hi again folks,

Having done a recent install of 4.63 on a colleague's PC, and noted that the install directory had moved from C:\Program Files\PMAIL to C:\PMAIL, I wondered if that might be important, so I decided to try uninstalling completely and reinstalling.

This I duly did, and dragging attachments now works fine. (There were a few fraught moments that turned out to be centered around the fact that the home mailbox location was no longer where PMAIL.INI thought it was, but that was quickly resolved)

Thanks for your help and suggestions,

Adrian
