not work in a new laptop
Very much interested in how this one goes. I recently brought my daughter a laptop and can't figure out how to make Pegasus work for her.
The problems might not be the same.  If you would like some assistance you would be better advised to set out the circumstances separately..

Some detail re your o/s and Pmail installation, e.g. clean or copied etc would probably be helpful.

If you have connection issues provide information as to what you are seeing when you try to connect.

I change to a new laptop.  Yet pegasus mail does not work.

Each time it need to go to "identities " to select , then click "become" or "done"

then it begins to download some old emails.

then stop working.

Help please!!!

error: connection timeout (no response from host)

error: connection timeout (no response from host)

The first thing to check is the timeout settings.  There is a default network connection timeout setting located in Tools>Internet Options>General and there is a timeout setting in each POP3 and SMTP host definition.  Set to at least 180 but some folks set as high as 300.

Also, the Internet options configurations are identity specific so make sure they are configured correctly for each identity.

Finally,  Internet session logs can often provide a clue.  Internet session logging can be enabled in Tools>Internet Options>General.  Be sure to read the help file about Internet session logging.

Use Tools, Internet options, general and the session log item to create tcp*.wpm files in your mailbox location and then read them in any plaint text editor application.

Pay careful attention to the Help:

Create Internet session logs (advanced diagnostic use only)  Checking this control tells Pegasus Mail to create special log files that show the entire exchange of information between it and the servers it connects to. Each session will be created in a file called TCPxxxx.WPM in your home mailbox directory (the "xxxx" is replaced by four digits). Creating session logs will slow down the performance of your system somewhat, and you should be aware that any username and password information exchanged between Pegasus Mail and the server will be shown in the log, *even* if you use SSL to secure the connection. Session logs are primarily useful if you need to debug a problem between Pegasus Mail and one of the servers it connects to - you should enable the option only on instructions from a system administrator or from Pegasus Mail technical support.

Be sure to then also turn off session logging.

It sounds like you may have a connectivity problem or one related to only certain Identity specific settings so each set of preferences will have to be checked. Look for any error messages in the log file or any halt or elapsed time interval between entries in the log. Pay attention to the command just preceding  the unusual entry.

I assume you do have the winpm-32 installed to the correct default location c:\pmail and if not that may require attention. Are your home and new mail location located in c:\pmail\mail\<user> location? Does Help, About, Info button information show you are using latest v4.63 and that paths look correct?

Check your pop3 settings and ensure they are correct - Tools | Internet options | Receiving (pop3) | Edit.

Yes, I followed this. Still not work
Is this a new or old Gmail account.  If new you need to enable pop3 using the Gmail web interface.

If your account is enabled you should go back and look at the post by Gerry Wise about internet session logs.

You can post the log here but be careful to exclude user names and passwords, including those using base64 encoding.

If you are unsure about the latter don't post the log without further advice.
