Thank you to all the folks who helped me with this. I like Pegasus as a program but the online community is its best feature. I am going to mark this problem resolved. I just sent a message flawlessly.
I am a new user. I just downloaded the program today so I'm still getting used to it. So far I have only one problem. When I click the icon with the down arrow and I get the famous error message that my username and password are being rejected. I close that and then for reasons best known to others I do nothing but the error message comes back two or three more times and then the program starts to download my messages. Does anyone know how I could avoid the error message and get my emails a little faster? This is only minor problem but hey I'd like a solution.
I just found out I get a similar problem when I try to send email. First I get the message that there is an authentication problem and then the message goes without my having to do anything else. I would appreciate it if anyone could solve this minor problem for me. So far I really like Pegasus.
Maybe you have more than one downloading definition?
Go to "tools" then "Internet Options", then "Receiving". If you have multiple listings in the POP3 hosts, that might be the issue. If so, try disabling all but one of them, save, quit, then restart Pegasus and see if it works. Try each one in turn until it starts working the first time.
TYVM for your help. With your help I was able to solve the downloading problem but I do not have but one option for Sending and I still get an error message before things go. Do you or anyone else have any thoughts for me?
IIUC, downloads are now working but you are receiving an error message on send but the message still gets sent.
The configuration for the SMTP host is in the same place as where you fixed the POP3 host so I would confirm all setting are correct for you SMTP host.
It would be helpful to have more information about the error you are receiving.

The help page does not say much but the message is clearly saying you need to authenticate.
Put in your yahoo name and password in the POP definition.
