Adding text to the subject

Hello !

I used Martin's solution and it is perfectly working. I combined both adding a new header and coloring the emails.

Thank you very much.

Hello all !

The best of the best are actually competing in the olympic games, but I guess for matters regarding the flying horse, this is the olympic community. That said, I have a small question about automatic filtering. Indeed, I would like to add an expression to the subject line of emails satisfying a particular trigger condition. For instance, it could be that I have a friend having two email addresses, one personal and one professional. Assume I want to have all of her emails in one folder but be able to distinguish those which are personal from those which are professional. I could do it by using a color, but I would like to do it by adding text. So if I receive a message from her personal email address, then whatever the subject is, the filtering will add "[personal]" and the same goes for the professional one. Is this possible with Pegasus Mail version 4.41. If not, is it possible with newer versions of the program ? If not, could this feature be added to the next version ?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards !

Iif you want personal and professional in one folder the solution is to color the folder content listings by sender.  BTW This posting should really go in the Pegasus Mail Suggestions folder on this site. There is currently no way to alter the incoming mail content without rewriting the whole message such as done by AV software,

Hello !

Thank you for your reply. So it is not possible to add some text to the subject of an email. However, by wandering into the filter capabilities of Pegasus Mail, I noticed something about adding a "header". One way of resolving my problem could then be to add such a header, [personal] when the address is personal and the same when it is professional. The problem is that I have to enter it with some sort of a keyword along with the following character " : ". I did not find any examples in the manual so I am asking here for someone to give me one.

Thanks in advance.

Actually very simple.  the line you can add is  x-personal: some text or  x-business: some text   If you open any message in Pegasus Mail and click on tab Raw View you will see several examples of where various applications add "x-" lines to emails both at the sender and the recipient.

To do this you would use Special tab of Editor and then down at bottom use the control which includes ability to use previous ones, add new ones or Edit existing headers. Keep in mind also that this a applies to and functions only only with message that you send out and does not apply to received messages. Nothing within Editor ever modifies or changes received messages.

I am a bit confused by the previous answers. On the one-hand, it seems possible to add a customed header to any incoming email using the appropriate filter rule, but on the other hand this possibility will only be effective with outgoing emails. Does this mean that for incoming email such a filtering rule will have no effect at all ? I think there is something I did not understand correctly so can you please explain it to me again maybe in a clearer way.

Thanks !

You can do like Martin writes.

i.e.
If header "F" contains "jane.doe@company.example.com" AddHeader "X-Jane-Doe-Mail: professional"
If header "F" contains "jane.doe@home.example.com" AddHeader "X-Jane-Doe-Mail: Personal"
