How To Back Up Mail Files Before Installing New PM Version?

Good plan. Just make sure that your Pmail folder structure doesn't exceed your backup media (CD, DVD, TAPE).

Currently using PM 4.21c and looking to upgrade (unless there 's some reason not to) to 4.74.

How do I back up my mail files in the event something goes wrong and the new version can't find them or deletes them? And how do I force the new version to use the backed up files, if need be?

Thanks!

Your mail files do not change when Pegasus Mail is upgraded. When you run setup, tell it you want to upgrade an existing installation, and one minute later it is done. Unless you have good reason to want to backup your files, and re-locate somewhere else on your system, I would avoid the backup.

Of course you would continue to backup your messages folders so you don't lose them for *any* reason. The files you need to backup are *.pmm and *.pmi in your Home Mailbox directory. There are others but most of them are in the same directory.

Enjoy !!
