Add address book entry

Belay that last message, Guy.  It occurred to me that "elevated" might mean "open as administrator."  I did that and got successes on the commands, and the address book now accepts changes.  Thanks!  I could never have figured any of that out on my own.

Regards, John

I recently installed version 4.63 in a new computer and moved old files folders, and address books to the new installation -- successfully, it appeared.  However, I cannot add a new entry to my address book.  I have tried twice using "add entry" and once using "add sender."  There are no error messages, but the entry does not appear.  I have reindexed the book.  The address book seems to work well otherwise.  Any thoughts?

Silly question, but... is it possible the file(s) got set as read-only when copied?

In addition to Paul's suggestion regarding read-only attributes.

If the new installation is on Windows 7 and the installation was made to the "Program Files" directory and the addressbook file pair was placed into the directory
where WINPM-32.EXE is installed (System-wide addressbooks). Pegasus may read but not be able to write to those files.

Guy, the new operating system is Windows 7 64-bit.  The old one was Windows 7 32-bit.  The address book file is installed in the user directory ("Admin"), not in the program directory.  I have Pegasus installed in a separate partition form the operating system, where I install all of my programs, and with this one exception, have encountered no problems.

Ensure that the Windows User has full rights to the addressbook files copied from the previous installation.
From an elevated CMD prompt at the directory containing the addressbook files try:

takeown /f ADDRESSBOOK*
icacls ADDRESSBOOK* /grant:r USERNAME:f

ADDRESSBOOK = the filename of the .PM! and .PMR pair
USERNAME = Windows user account

I think we are getting somewhere, Guy, but not quite there.

The message after the first instruction was:  The current logged on user does not have ownership privileges on the file (or folder)"  "EAGERST.PM!".

The message after the second instruction was:  EAGERST.PM!": Access is denied.  Successfully processed 0 files; Failed processing 1 files

Is there some procedure for importing the information to a new file, perhaps?
