Unable to delete email

Thank you both for your suggestions. It's in the Inbox that she is having the

problem. What I've been having her do in the mean time is moving the

messages she wants to delete into a temporary folder - which she is then

able to delete.

I just discovered that the problem is in

the button on the toolbar. If she uses the delete key, the message

deletes. If she clicks on the delete button on the toolbar (which is her

habit) nothing happens. So it looks like the toolbar is somehow broken.

Is there any easy fix for that?

 Thanks.

Hi,

I am trying to fix the installation of Pegasus on someone else’s

computer (WinXP 32bit). Pegasus 4.51 was installed and it lost the account

information. I was able to easily add that back (filled in the user name and

reselected the POP and SMTP settings). However, she then noticed that she was unable

to delete mail - she can move files to another folder, but delete doesn’t do

anything. She clicks delete and nothing happens. She has it set so that the

Trash folder does not persist, so at the moment there is no Trash folder.

So far I’ve –

  1. Upgraded to

    4.63 and that didn't help.

  2. Found the old

trash files (*.PMM and PMI) in the mailbox folder using Windows Explorer.

I tried removing those from the folder thinking maybe they were corrupted,

but that didn’t make a difference either.

Any suggestions short of uninstalling and reinstalling?

Thanks.

I'm not sure about this. However, if you right-click a mail folder, there are three options at the bottom of the drop-down menu that may be worth pursuing, viz. Check consistency, Reindex folder (which may bring back old mails previously deleted) and Recover deleted space. Perhaps any of them will fix this.

In addition to what Steffan advised:

  • Can't she delete in a folder or can't she delete in the inbox (which isn't a folder like the other ones)?
  • Does she have full rights in the diretory with her mailbox?
  • If files are recovered ... may be, they have attribute read only?
