Message text doesn't come through when sending attachments

I'm afraid I can't really envision the problem you're describing. If you have MIME support turned on and the "Send as separate messages" option turned off, then the attachments *always* go as part of the message.

Are you sure there isn't something between you and the recipient interfering with the message in some way? It almost sounds as though the message is being rewritten or otherwise tampered-with in transit.

Cheers!

I've used Pegasus for years and just started having this problem:

when I send an attachment, the message text doesn't make it through, but the attachment does.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

What are your message settings in Options/Outgoing mail?

Usually the text is in a separate mime part to your attachment - is this part missing, or is it empty?

Thanks for responding.

I have MIME on, the next three "use last setting" and Rich Text Off, due to raw view code showing in messages when I used Rich Text (this problem was never satisfactorily resolved. (Posted at

I tried to post screen captures, but they wouldn't paste.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated, because if I can't get this resolved, I'm going to need to bail on Pegasus, which I'd hate to do after all these years)

Thanks,

D

Go into Tools|Options, and select the "Sending mail" page. Make sure that "Send attachments as separate messages" is NOT checked.

Cheers!

Hi David,

 >Go into Tools|Options, and select the "Sending mail" page. Make sure

that "Send attachments as separate messages" is NOT checked.

Thanks for your response. That box is not checked.

In the "sending mail" box I have these checked:

"Generate Multipart..."

"Allow 8 Bit Mime.."

"Suppress BCC..."

"Enable Text File..."

If I tried taking MIME off as a work around, so that both my message text and attachment made it through, I would get the raw message formatting in the message (eg. Content-type: Multipart/Alternative; boundary="Alt-Boundary-26029.1459453"
--Alt-Boundary-26029.1459453

I tried a couple of other variations to see if these can help:

1) When using Outlook, I could send and email to myself and both the attachment and message content showed fine with Pegasus

2) When sending an email through Pegasus, but looking at the web version of email from my ISP, the message content and the attachment showed.

3) If I keep the MIMEs on in both Options/Messages and Replies, but uncheck it in "Special" for the individual email, and send it to myself, and read it with Pegasus, the message text shows, but there's no attachment, only:

-------------- Enclosure number 1 ----------------
 * This message contains the file 'NMCC.doc', which has been
 * uuencoded. If you are using Pegasus Mail, then you can use
 * the browser's eXtract function to lift the original contents
 * out to a file, otherwise you will have to extract the message
 * and uudecode it manually.

4) When I do #3, but read it with Outlook, only the message comes through, no attachment or indication of a "uuencoded" file.

 5) I turned off my firewall, but that didn't do anything either.

I reinstalled Pegasus (overwrote, didn't uninstall original)

Is there some missing piece here?

Thanks,

David
