v 46.3 - often no copy of original in reply SOLVED

Well I dunno really but resetting the options in the Reply button seems to have fixed it.

Maybe some odd Windows 8 behaviour.  Does not really  make sense but one cannot argue with success.

I've never had this problem with any other version. Some replies I send do not have the original text in the reply - I
expect it is a choice of some sort of formatting but can't find which  option I need.

"Reply" on the toolbar would be a good place to start. (The arrow allows you to configure the button response.)

I'm using the same options for all replies - some show the original and others don't. I'm using the same options I've always used

Button does reply with options

Include original text in reply

Replies to HTML preserve original's formatting

Omit original headers

Use customer header line

Is there any commonality with the messages that do not display, such as plain text or HTML or origin?

4/4 with no original have both plain text and HTML; 2 out of 2 with the original only have plain text

Sorry for the disorganised messages - I'm just out of hospital after  2 major operations in 3 weeks and things are a bit blurred

There is a configuration setting that disables all text styling located in Tools/Options/Outgoing mail/Message formatting.  If this setting is enabled you will not get the contents of HTML only messages included in a reply.  This does not explain why you don't get the contents of messages that have both HTML and plain text parts though.

Where there is no original displayed is the message editor totally blank?

There is a horizontal line across the page, then, for example,  the message

The other weird thing that has been happening, which I've just solved, is that I've not been able to print messages since updating. I've just discovered that, if I click on View (switch from fancy to plain text), I can print again!

This is most probably a known but currently not solvable issue with Asian charsets while only containing plain ASCII: It might work correctly with HTML messages if you enable the For replies to HTML preserve original's formatting option in the reply dialog. The only workaround would be to manually change the charset to US-ASCII which would only work with messages stored in the new mail folder since they are stored as single files therein.

Sorry - bad example. This one also does the same:

I also have that option already ticked .

Maybe the answer is to go back a version, but I normally end up with at least one thing screwed up when I do that, such as Main Folder

Not necessarily, there might still be an Asian charset involved if this sender has it set as his default ...

Hi - having the same problem with all english characters but running in Windows 8.  Just noticed it.  I have Peg installed in a shared non-System (C) directory so I can access with dual boot OSs.

Works as always just fine with Windows 7, but in 8, I lose all earlier text when I click reply button., it in effect starts a new blank email with no history of prior text.  Huge problem for me.    Have not changed any settings and again all works perfectly in Win 7.

Huge problem - any ideas?.  Thanks
