Can't access migrated address book

Well, after a lot of tweeking I was able to import the modified tab-delimited address book into Pegasus. What a frustrating process! There must be a better way. Anyway thanks for the help. It's done and I'm happy.

I've installed Pegasus on my new laptop with Win8 to replace my Outlook Express on win/XP on a different laptop. I like the features of Pegasus and it seems to run fine on W8, but I'm having a devil of a time trying to bring my address book from OE to Pegasus. I've tried several things for several hours but no success yet. I read another post on this forum that suggested using DAWN to do the conversion. I installed DAWN on both systems. On the XP system I ran DAWN and saved the result as a CSV file which I then transferred to the W8 machine. I tried to use DAWN there and create a Pegasus address book directly by importing the DAWN-produced CSV file. That process didn't work. I went back to OE on the XP machine and did an OE export to a CSV file which I then transferred to the W8 machine. I again used DAWN to add the OE-produced CSV file and export directly to a Peg address book. That process produced a .pm! and .pmr file in the C:/PMAIL/MAIL/ADMIN/... directory. Now, when I open address books in Peg, the only one that shows up is one with a description of "C" and a type of "Personal". There are no entries listed in the book. When I look at the .pmr file through NOTEPAD I see in the first line, the file path for the address book (listed above) but all the characters have a spaces between them (e.g. C : / P M A I L / M A I L / A D M I N). What am I doing wrong? Is there a better way to migrate the address book to Pegasus? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You might try converting the OE export file from a comma delimited file to a tab delimited file then importing it using the Pegasus Mail addressbook import feature.  The help file contains information and details on using this feature.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried that (opened csv file, saved as tab-delimited) and it appeared to look ok. I then went to Peg and tried to import that tab-delimited file. If no address book had been created, nothing happened. When I created an address book and selected it, then used the import from tab-delimited function it actually populated entries but the data was incorrectly aligned (e.g. NAME (alias) was omitted, e-mail was listed in Dept/Company, Key contained full name, etc.). Any suggestions?

OK, you know how to import the CVS into Pegasus - but the fields are not correct.

Create a new test address book in Pegasus and populate a single test entry with all of the fields. Just use the field name as the value, e.g. Name(alias) == Name(alias), Key == Key, etc. Then export the test entry to a tab delimited file. Now you know the order that Pegasus expects. Import the CVS file into a spreadsheet program and rearrange the columns to the same a expected by Pegasus. Save to a new file and try importing that into a new address book in Pegasus
