I have found the STARTTLS and used 587 as send port.

Looks like I am Ok now.

Thanks all

I have been using Winpmail for more than 20 years with no problem. I have just added a new email address with Australian Telstra and it appears to use live.com. I have looked at Telstra's help and Winpmail blog but have not been able to receive. I have set the new email address and password and tried port 995, tried SSL and Never in Security but just get a network error. I use Zonealarm firewall. Any suggestions?

Turn on Internet session logging.  The log file should provide a clue as to why the connection is failing.  Read the help file about this and be careful what parts of the log you post as authentication credentials are logged in plain text.  Don't forget to turn the logging back off once done troubleshooting.  The setting to enable Internet session logging is located on the General tab of Tools|Internet options.

If the server is pop3.live.com it should work with SSL on port 995.

I have been looking at the logs.

I have been going around in circles getting quite confused.

I started again with a clean sheet.  RECEIVE now works with 995 and SSL.

I cannot SEND however and log says needs STARTTLS command.

I can send using mail.bigpond.com but I had to override mailsafe in my zonealarm which I have to look at.

Thanks for the help!
