I'm not sure which check you are referring to.
Content Control - sets can be disabled from Configuration / Content Control menu
Spamhalter & Clamwall - both have enable checkboxes on their Configuration tabs
MercuryS - various complance settings are available on the Configuration tabs
Filter Rules - these may be used to check for spam, again acessible from the Configuration menu
