Yes, I do have the selector available so it is not a big deal to select the identity, just trying to be lazy, but until I can get into Pegasus again, it is all moot. [:)]

In the email list (upper right of screen) I clicked on the "Date" header to sort things so that the latest email was at the bottom of the list. All worked fine but the next time I ran Pegasus, it was sorted back with the latest email at the top. Is there some way to insist on starting with the list sorted the way I want it?

The same kind of thing happens with the selected Identity. It always starts with the Default which is not what I always want. Is there any way to lock the current Identity for the next restart?

 Now to the bug. While the mouse cursor was over the "Date" heading I right clicked to see if there was an option to lock the sort direction. To my surprise the pop up menu appeared 4" to the right and 5" down from the cursor. Ooops. :) It probably should not have popped up at all.

Try the "Remember and apply each folder's sorting mode separately"  setting located in Tools > Options> Incoming mail > Preview mode setting.  Keep in mind that most of the configuration settings are identity specific.

 Use the -id command line switch.  For details go to Help > Commandline options

You are correct that this context menu is not appropriate when you click on a column heading but I don't know as I would call this a bug,  An anomoly perhaps but it's nothing that affects functionality.

As to the "bug," I have been programming  for 35+ years and to me, anything that does not work as expected or as it should is a bug. A 'bug," does not have to be detrimental or destructive in behavior, it is anything that happens that should not happen. Let me make a risky global statement, "any such issue is entirely the fault of the programmer whether it be oversight, lack of attention or limited knowledge of a process."

Believe me, I have been in all of those different position more times than I could count. [:'(]

I was not highlighting the bug for repair as I understand v5 is somewhere off in near future, but rather to alert the developer that the issue happens and not to allow it to transfer across to v5.

I am sincerely grateful to the developer for Pegasus and I hope it continues as the powerhouse it deserves to be. So far I am loving it and especially the great support system with this forum. After Opera trashed 3-years and 3000 emails, I tried a couple of other email clients (one quirky and the other bug-ridden) and I have to say, they do not stand a chance against Pegasus.

The "Remember and apply each folder's sorting mode separately" was/is already checked but it doesn't seem to be doing it.

The "-id command line switch," does not do what I want as I have to define an Identity to load with that switch. I don't have a specific Identity in mind, I just want it to remember the one I was last using and open it up again.

My PC is a laptop and I sometimes have to shut it down between sessions to go do something else. I will-not use the "Sleep" command as I have the system drive fully encrypted in case the laptop is stolen and Sleep will negate that luxury. :)

A workaround for the storing the Sort order. I tried a few things with Auto Filtering but nothing changed so I sorted the current folder according to Date in the direction I wanted and then selected "Reindex flder."

It got a bit messy and marked all stuff as Read again. Also at the end of that process, it offered me a tutorial on using the Message window, and then opened the last email into a new message window. I closed that and now on a restart the sort is as I would like with one caveat. On selecting that email folder, the first item is selected instead of the most recent.

Again, these are observations for v5 and not something I think need fixing for now. :)

With the folder window active that you want sorted by date go to the Folder pulldown menu and select "Sort by date". 

Note: the Folder menu item is dynamic in that its content changes based on the folder window that is active.  Activate the Folder List window then check it and you will see what I mean.

Sorry but Pegasus can't do what you want here.  Do you have the "Add 'Identy' selector" option enabled?  This helps in that you can select what identity you wish to send a new message or reply as.  There is an odd behavior about this that I can't remember.  Someone else out there please chime in on this.
