Email from Outlook to Mercury Distribution Group got Corrupted

Well, something in the message didn't agree with Outlook, Mercury, Exchange or some antivirus software that may have been someplace in between, but it's unfortunately rather impossible to say more than that without examining the message itself.

Email message (HTML with a pdf attachment and picture in the message) from Outlook that went to Mercury Distribution Group was corrupted when received by users.

The majority of the recipients received a single line of text in the body of the message

I put the asterisks in for anonymity, they included the hostname of our Exchange mailbox server.

Can anyone make sense of why this happened and how to resolve this issue?
