Mail not comming to the server.

I missed the part about the IP interface restrictions, sorry about that. It's rarely a good idea for a server to only respond to traffic from the server itself. But did you actually get any response on port 25 on server1.thosforums.com when connecting with Telnet? It just times out when I try it.

Hello,

Today i have been trying for 8 hours to get my mail server working but since i failed i hope someone here can help me.

What does not work is reciving e-mail on my created accounts.

What does work is my smtp i can send out mails.

I put in my MX records as following:

A thosforums.com 5.199.153.29
A server1.thosforums.com 5.199.153.29
MX-10 thosforums.com server1.thosforums.com
CNAME pop3.thosforums.com server1.thosforums.com
CNAME smtp.thosforums.com server1.thosforums.com

Local domains i added:

localhost → thosforums.com
localhost → [127.0.0.1]
localhost → localhost.com
localhost → localhost
localhost → server1.thosforums.com
localhost → pop3.thosforums.com
localhost → smtp.thosforums.com

i want to recive e-mails for <bart@thosforums.com> so for local users i just added:

bart <-- as username

I use localhost as internet name for this system in the mercury core module configuration general settings.

i have made no aliases at the moment i did also try it but did not work for me either.

 I put on protocols

Mercury S, P, C, D, I,

on all i added ip interface 127.0.0.1 also i allowed this ip.

hope anyone can help me i tried to find solutions on the internet but could not find it i hope i just forgot something easy so that it is fast fixed.

Thanks for your help!

There are a few things to sort, but it could be that the main problem isn't in the settings for Mercury.

- Unless you own the domain localhost.com it should be removed from the local domains list.

- Adding  localhost → [5.199.153.29] is advisable.

-  localhost → localhost makes sense only if the host name for the server actually is localhost.

- "Internet name for this system" needs to be something that makes sense on the Internet. This is what Mercury help tells us:

Enter here the Internet name for the machine on which Mercury is running. Mercury will use this information when forming certain addresses, such as the postmaster address. The name you enter here should be a fully-qualified domain name; if you are intending to use Mercury to provide mail services outside your immediate organization, the name you provide will need to be publicly defined in your Domain Name Server (DNS) system.

After fixing that and restarting Mercury I suggest you check the MercuryS log file (or console window) to see if any connections from the Internet actually reach Mercury. If not check that port 25 is allowed in the Windows firewall, and that traffic on port 25 arriving from the Internet is forwarded to the mail server from your router/modem/firewall device. If it still doesn't work after that, verify that your Internet provider at all allows traffic on port 25 from the Internet.

Hello,

thanks for you fast response,

i changed the settings but i still do not get any mail from the outside,
i forwarded the correct ports and i am currently not using any firewalls.
I have set up my own webserver and that was no problem.
I connected with another computer on a diffrent connection with telnet on server1.thosforums.com 25 and i could acces it.
I tried sending a few mails from my gmail account but they dont seem to reach mercury just nothing happands.
Can it still be that my isp block it even tho i could login on port 25 on a diffrent connection?
My isp says i cannot use port 25 to send mail to other server but i can send mails but i am not reciving them.

Thanks again!
