postion and size of windows in pmail

The default path is C:\PMAIL\PROGRAMS but if your Pegasus Mail executables reside in C:\PMAIL then your command line should work.

Mostly not.  Most (but not all) configuration changes are stored in the PMAIL.INI file so configuration changes made when running with the PMAIL_LENO.INI will only be written to the PMAIL_LENO.INI file.  When you just start winpm-32.exe the PMAIL.INI file is used so you will need to make the same configuration changes for it.

As for you previous question about the windows,  I don't remember if I had to open windows when I started using my PMAIL_HI.INI file.  I do remember having to resize and reposition windows though.  Perhaps you need to set the Pegasus desktop up the way you want it for the copied .INI, I just don't remember.   As Jerry said, STATE.PMJ also plays a role in this so in may case, I keep the same folder windows open regardless of which INI file I am running as.  Make a backup of your original .INI file for safe keeping while working at this.

Hi, I would like to know which file is used to save the position and size of windows

in the pmail user interface.

Due to the synchronization between two notebooks with different screen sizes

I would like to skip the synchronization of those files so I dont have to adjust

the position and size of the windows every time I change from one notebook

to the other.

There is more than one file involved. Pmail.ini and state.pmj hold position and sizing informaton plus more.

See Help and the command line flags:

-Y <filename>
Specify an alternative name for the Pegasus Mail User Preferences file, PMAIL.INI. This switch tells Pegasus Mail that it should read and save all preferences information in the file you give, which must not have a path associated with it (it must be a simple filename). This is mostly useful if you run Pegasus Mail from two different machine with different screen resolutions, since it allows you to define settings specific to each machine.

It is the PMAIL.INI file.

FYI, there is a way to have different machines each use a unique PMAIL.INI file.  This is hand when running the same install of Pegasus Mail on different machines (e.g. from a flash drive or network drive).  You do it by making a copy of the PMAIL.INI file and giving it a unique filename (mine is PMAIL_HI.INI for my hi-res laptop).  You then use the -Y switch in the shortcut to specify which .INI file is to be used by that instance of Pegasus Mail (e.g. C:\PMAIL\Programs\winpm-32.exe -roam -A -I username -Y pmail_hi.ini).  Keep in mind that using multiple .INI files requires that configuration changes be made in each instance (each unique .INI).

Maybe there is a mistake, but it doesnt work the way I want.

By start pmail has 10 windows open:

folders, new mail, junk, queue manager, draft manager and 5 own folders.

After copying and renaming the pmail.ini and starting pmail with -Y the

pmail window opens with only the new mail folder, but at least at the exact

right position in the right size.

What is wrong?
