Sorry for taking a while to respond. Couldn't figure out how to "reply." Finally figured out that the email link notifying me took me to the thread but did not log me in.
Anyhow, thank you very much for the advice. It was very helpful to me. Before I try that, since you say one can't control the sequence downloaded, I'm still trying to figure out a way to work around it, but if I can't, I'll certainly do what you suggest.
What I've done so far is: (1) tools > mail filtering rules > create edit pop rule set. Then, used the "If message date is between [date 1] and [date 2] download. (2) Then, I went to internet options > receiving pop3 > edit > download controles [which I learned from you] -- where I put in the name of the pop filtering rules I created in (1).
Tried that but for some reason the emails after the 2nd date specified kept downloading. Went back and looked at the Download Controls tab and noticed a section labeled "Default action for messages still present after filtering." It was set on "Download." I figured that was telliing it to select between the 2 dates specified and then download the messages remaining. I changed it to "Leave on server," figuring it would download messages between the dates selected and leave the remaining messages on the server.
However, when I tried it, absolutely nothing downloaded. So, that's where I am now, scratching my head and trying to figure out how the logical expected actions did not happen and what to do to fix it.
Any ideas? And, again, thank you very much. Your input helped this novice to get this far.
