Hi there,

I'm searching for a mailserver with some features:

  • running on Win7 as service (is GUI possible when running as service on Win7?)
  • common address book for all Thunderbird clients
  • blocking of emails extending defined size
  • sending email to list of some hundred receipients by sending each email individually (like supermailer does)

Which of these features are implemented in mercury?

Thanks for your answer!

Regards, Franz

Access to the GUI in Win7 when running as a service will be a new feature in Mercury 5.

common address book for all Thunderbird clients
Nope.

blocking of emails extending defined size
Email clients may or may not support the SMTP SIZE restriction, but messages that exceed a certain size can be caught by filtering rules.

sending email to list of some hundred receipients by sending each email individually
If the VERP option is selected a separate job will be created for each recipient.

Hi there,

do you know when Mercury 5 will be released?

There hasn't been any release date set for Mercury 5 yet. There is a minor update, 4.80, that should complete beta testing shortly that includes some of the already completed steps up to version 5, but not the new GUI solution.

If no GUI is available when using Mercury 4 on Win7 as a service, I think I have to configure it manually in the setup/ini files?

Editing mercury.ini manually is one option, another one is to temporarily stop the service and run Mercury in program mode.
