Outlook connects but Pegasus does not

[quote user="Scott Davies"]

Greetings.  I am working to configure Pegasus.  I have checked the POP3 and SMTP settings with the server for my website, and they are all confirmed to be correct.  MS Outlook connects with no problem using these settings, but Pegasus both on my desktop and on my laptop finds the password wrong.

Is there any advice in a case like this?  I would much like to use PM instead of Outlook.  Thank you.

You really have to supply MORE information.

Who is the email provider ? ( Ex: QWest, Hotmail, GMail, Verizon, AT&T, etc )

What is the SMTP and POP3 addresses and associated ports ?  ( Ex:  mail.comcast.net & TCP port 995, smtp.comcast.net @ TCP port 465 )

Are you referring to "MS Outlook" meaning MS Outlook Express, or Windows Live Mail, rather than corporate MS Exchange server connections with Outlook MS clients ?  MS Outlook normally runs as a MAPI communications protocol based system, and does not use SMTP or POP3 in the traditional sense.  What is your server running to store and deliver mail to your (Pegasus Mail) client ?

If the POP 3 and SMTP settings are correct in Outlook then the same settings should work in Pegasus.  Some of the field names for username etc may be different.  Some email clients need username@domain.com, others you set username in one field and domain.com in another.  At work we use Mecury so none of this really applies.  I will try to remember to check my home system for you and post again how Pegasus needs these settings.

Did you determine it was detecting a wrong password by looking at an internet session log or are you just experiencing authentication failures?  If not by internet session log you might want to enable internet session logging because the log file will identify the point of failure.  I strongly suggest reading the help file about internet session logging for info on what is logged (eg: authentication credentials in plain text) and where to find the log files.

Note:  There are known issues with Pegasus Mail and Verizon/FIOS
