Paste from Word 2003 not preserving all elements

Since Pegasus is an e-mail client not a wordprocessor there are limits as to what can be passed from Word 2003 into the Pegasus editor. If you do require the formatting to be 'exact', you could save the Word 2003 as PDF (cutePDF is a great 'printer' for pdf creation from any WinXX application) and attach to the email itself. Would be higher quality than an image embed.

Food for thought.

Hello

Using Pegasus Mail 4.63 and MS Office 2003. We have created a simple 'invitation' in Word which comprises centred text enclosed by a triple line boundary box. The box encloses the text leaving a small gap between the inside edge of the box and the text itself.

If I copy this and then paste it into a new email message it looks great.

However, when sent, the received message displays the border as a single line and formats the border so that its width fills the viewable area of the message. The horizontal border lines are solid and the vertical lines of the border are dispalyed as dashes. When I view the message in a browser the same thing happens.

To get round this we captured the Word document as an image and pasted the image into a new message.

Will V5 allow more control over the way that external content is formatted and displayed?

I don't know what is coming in v5 but my workaround is to use a screen capture utility to capture the document for pasting into an email message.  It is a bit of a timesaver because you don't have to save the document as an image.  The drawback is the image resolution of the screen capture isn't stellar

Yeah, the image editor we use can capture a region of the screen and copy it to the clipboard so this is quick, just as you say.

It would be really useful if we could have a copy of the clipboard content, to see what might be mis-translated from Microsoft to normal material.

I suspect that the conversion from Microsoft to the RTF used by the Pegasus Mail TER editor is tripping over a newly introduced feature in Word RTF.

Please send the copy to my email address (irelam@telus.net) and I will pass it on to the developers.
