I have several more logs showing this error...

So, which error is the one and what could be the reason? I can see

8: NB Socket read timeout

and

 NB Socket read error 10054

The mail we are talking about was processed by the SMTP server at 13:53:57.

Hi All,

I do have a Mercury installation running on Windows XP with several IMAP users (Thunderbird + iPhones). They continuously get the error that the mail could not be copied into the sent folder after sending a message. I know that the iPhones cause a lot of troubles because of keeping the IMAP connections open but I'm not sure if this could affect the sent folder as well. Any idea what could cause the problem and how it can debugged. I just switched on session log and will post a snipped as soon as the error appears again.

btw: the sent folders I'm talking about seem to be OK and not corrupted according to mbxmaint_ui.exe.

Just one thought: I coped the Mercury installation including the mail folder to a new machine with a identical path. Couly this cause any problems? I'm asking because after copying the installation, I saw very weired problems like mails getting duplicated over and over again or mail keep showing up in the inbox no matter how often they have already been deleted. I could not find the problem for theses issues and the only thing which helped was deleting the user account completely and create it from scratch (before that, I copied all messages using IMAP to a local folder in Thunderbird and I restored them again after the new account was created).

Maybe this "could not be copied into the sent folder" is also such an error but I cannot easily test this because the accounts I'm talking about are huge and it would take me forever to backup the messages and folders manually using IMAP.

You could try making another folder on the server and copying all the user's email and folders into it.  Then make a new user on the system and copy all this stuff into their mailbox server to see if it can ll be accessed and if the sent folder does work with Thunderbird.  If so you are good to go and can delete your troubled user account, recreate it and then copy all the email back into it.

Another thing to bear in mind is the actual folder names that PMail and Mercury use to access folders and the friendly user name that you see in the email client, perhaps the friendly folder 'Sent Mail' doe snot actually link to a real one.  If so you need to make that happen somehow.

Are you talking about "copying the messages and folder" on the file system level? Because (at least) with Thunderbird, it seems that copying IMAP folders, which can contain other folders, is not possible. I will create a "normal" folder in the target account and then stops there. Not sub folders and messages are copied afterwards.
