will not run in Windows 8.1

Thanks. I actually woke up in the middle of the night with this thought - that Peg might require a top-level folder. Not sure I understand about the write access, which apparently makes Peg unique - have installed dozens of programs under Program Files, and Peg was the only problem.

No problem with installation under Win 8.1, but when I try to run the program, the flash screen appears for a fraction of a second, then nothing. Any ideas? Thanks!  ...Steve

Some more info as to how you went about the installation would be helpful. Did you accept the default or do something else?

Installed but where? Did you install to the default c:\pmail location which would work or to some other location? Did you attempt to copy anything from another machine and install? When importing data or configuration and preferences be careful not to grab anything with path information or anything that was not to a default c:\pmail location only on the old machine. Import/restore only message folders and any new mail messages and address books.

I installed under Program Files (x86). On the first attempt I

accepted all the defaults, including -ROAM. On the second attempt I

installed with only -A (as in my current Win Vista installation). This

was not an imported config - I downloaded and installed the file from

the pmail site.

Does Peg now require installation to c:\pmail? I currently have it installed at x:\pegasus with no problems.

This causes trouble on recent Windows versions (since VISTA AFAIK) as the any kind of Program Files (sub)folders (there are two of them on 64bit machines) does not allow write access which Pegasus Mail still requires.
