Issues with Win 8.1?

Pegasus needs to access the default printer driver.  It should not make any difference if the printer itself goes into standby mode.

You can test whether the printer driver is the issue by temporarily adding a generic text printer and setting it as the default printer and then testing Pegasus Mail.  Be sure to start Pegasus Mail after you change the printer.

Are there any known issues with Win 8.1? I'm getting occasional "not responding" where the screen grays out, also noticed that deleting a batch of messages (maybe 100 or so) takes much longer than when it was running under Win Vista.

It sounds like you may have a problem with the Default printer set in Control Panel. Choose a simple printer such as Plain Text, or its equivalent in Win 8.

What about the Tools => Options => Advanced settings => Load Windows Internet Services? Is it set to Always?

Thanks Martin. Not sure I understand - this means I'd need to change to my actual printer every time I print something? I've never used this option previously, and didn't have these Peg issues until Win 8.1

There are known delays that occur if your connected printer is not available or powered down.  ie a printer on a network may not be visible to your machine for some reason such as being powered down or out-of-paper.  Pegasus Mail needs the font information from the printer driver in order to prepare for printing.

To expand on what Martin said, Pegasus Mail requires the printer driver for normal functionality regardless of whether you intend to print.

Thanks, trying to determine the practical implications of this. My default printer is a Brother wireless which goes into standby mode when not being used. What effect does this have on Peg?
