Miss-spelled name in address book . . .

"FRJ,"

Was not aware when making corrections to Names in an address book we need to ReIndex that book. I have solved this issue by removing the record of the address book, not a large address book at that, and rerecorded that record and all has been AOK since. When correcting that addy name I also clicked the 'Apply' next to the 'Send Mail' thought this was like accepting the correction, I guess it did not work that way.

Will use the ReIndex of the addy book next time.

Greetings from Texas,

I entered a new address in my address book and did not notice there was a miss-spelling of the name. Added said addy to my distribution list and went on my marry DUMMY way. Started receiving Daemon Mail Failures and did not know what to do, until today. PM finally gave a clue as to what these failures were about, "501 Syntax error in arguments" and it was through my distribution list. Finally discovered the miss-spelling and corrected same . . all locations for that one address shown as corrected. Yet still was getting rejections when sending to that one addy. Open address book and clicked on that one addy in the lower pane showing the incorrect spelling, yet when opening the Editor for that addy it was shown as correct. The reference to that addy in the distribution list was also correct, but; when sending my mail it was referenced back to the address book that displayed the incorrect name. That was corrected several times over the last several days without any success. I finally deleted that addy, name and Key reference. Then re-entered the same addy with name and key being very careful to not have any typo errors. WHEW, I was screaming at my computer, PM, monitor, me, the neighbors, my dogs, et cetera. After making that last correction by removing the problem addy and reinserting it seems to have corrected my issue, so far.

Just wanted to let you know this had occurred and how I managed to get back to NORMAL(?) this has never happened to me before, have always been able to edit my address books with out a problem. This one was a BEXAR that is pronounced BEAR, just being difficult . .

Hmm ... I understand you had an entry in an adressbook, where name was missspelled - and had that entry in a distrubutionlist via Name ... not the mailaddress (so Pegasus has to make mailaddressresolution)?!

On big addressbooks it may happen, that in changing the name of an entry, the index isn't recreated for some reasons. But you don't have to delete and newly input the entry. If in addressbook windows you click on the Icon for the addressbook, you may find a menueentry like "reindex addressbook". That should have solved the problem.

bye    Olaf
